In Pictures: Nakba Day Protest in Dublin

On the evening of Thursday 15 May 2014, Nakba Day, the IPSC staged a ‘Moving Gallery’, which saw Palestinians, Irish and international walk from St. Stephen’s Green to the Spire on O’Connell Street carrying large photographs from Al Nakba and Palestinian flags, and a giant key symbolising the Palestinian right of return to their homeland denied them by the State of Israel for 66 years.
The event commemorated what Palestinians call Nakba Day which marks the 66th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (‘Catastrophe’) which saw the expulsion of over 700,000 Palestinians, forcibly uprooted from their homeland in an act of ethnic cleansing that facilitated the foundation of the State of Israel.
