Baseball Cats And Dead Palestinians: The Irish media and the killings of Palestinian teens

Kevin Squires, National Coordinator of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has a written an article for the Irish magazine Rabble which looks at the Irish media and its shameful lack of coverage of the cold-blooded murder of two unarmed Palestinian teenagers last week, even though the killings were caught on video.

Below is an excerpt

[I]t seems the heavily edited Reuters piece wasn’t deemed newsworthy enough for the Irish Times website, where perhaps an expanded report could have been published, and the videos even embedded for readers to see for themselves.

On the other hand, a fluff piece – with accompanying video – about a cat that ‘threw’ a baseball at a game in the US is apparently of crucial interested to readers. No, seriously. I’m not making this s**t up. Baseball cat > Dead Palestinians. The paper of record in action.

All of this points to a serious problem with reporting of the Palestine-Israel issue in the mainstream Irish media.
