April 12th-17th: A VERY busy week for Palestinian solidarity in Ireland
The next week (Sat 12 – Thursday 17th April) is going to be very busy week indeed for friends of Palestine in Ireland. Be sure to check out some of the following great events. From bookstalls, to concerts to street dancing to public meetings to film screenings – it’s all happening this week!
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th see the Dublin opening of an exhibition of art from Gaza in the RHA in Ely Place, Dublin 2. Curated by Felim Egan and hosted by Gaza Action Ireland: More info here.
Saturday 12th will also see the IPSC once again hosting a stall at Dublin’s Anarchist Bookfair in Liberty Hall from 10am-5pm, the largest radical/alternative bookfair in Ireland: More info here.
Sunday 13th is the beginning of the Lajee Cultural Tour of Ireland, with an already SOLD OUT trad and dabka concert in Liberty Hall: More info here.
On Monday 14th the Lajee dancers will take to Grafton St in Dublin for a bit of Street Dabka Dancing at 5pm. The same will happen on Tuesday 15th in Galway on Shop Street at 4pm.
Tuesday 15th will also see a trad and dabka concert in Galway in Monroe’s Live at 8pm (with an exhibition from 7pm): More info here.
On Wednesday 16th there will be an unmissable talk and exhibition by award winning photojournalist and filmmaker Mohammad Al-Azza from Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, who will talk about life in the camp and the difficulties of being a Palestinian journalist: More info here.
Thursday April 17th is Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, and the IPSC will be marking it with vigil highlighting G4S complicity with Israeli human rights abuses against Palestinians in Apartheid’s jails at 5pm at the Grafton Street entrance to St Stephen’s Green: More info here.
Finally, also on Thursday 17th there will be the Dublin premiere film screening of ‘Small Hands in Handcuffs’ and Q&A with its young Irish director Anrai Carroll, as well as excerpts of ‘Stone Cold Justice’, a hard hitting report from ABC Australia on Israel’s arrest and detention of Palestinian children: More info here.
