Over the past two years the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has collected almost 23,000 signatures on a petition calling for an end to the bi-lateral arms trade between Ireland and Israel – a trade worth some €22m over the past decade or so. On Wednesday 4th October we will hand the petition in to the Irish government to make them aware that this profiteering from the oppression and murder of Palestinians and colonisation of their land is unacceptable. We are asking our supporters to join us outside the Dail gates at 1.15pm for a short protest and photo op.
For the photo-op a symbolic ‘die in’ is planned at the Dail gates to highlight the complicity in the oppression of Palestinians that arises from this trade in death. Everyone is encouraged to be part of this ‘die in’, which will also include visual materials. Following the photo op, we will march around to the Dept of the Taoiseach on Merrion Street where the the petition will be handed in by IPSC Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi and another member of Ireland’s Palestinian community.
We hope you will be able to spare half an hour to be part of this important hand-in and to register your opposition to the Irish arms trade with Israel.
