[Dublin] The Palestine Lectures #4: Trócaire’s Advocacy for Peace in the Israel-Palestine Conflict (Pal Ed)

On Wednesday 24th April at 6:30pm you are cordially invited to attend a public lecture outlining Trócaire’s advocacy work in Palestine. Garry Walsh, Trócaire’s Palestine Officer, will outline the work Ireland’s largest international aid agency is doing to protect and defend human rights in the region, and indicate how people here can play a role in supporting this work and creating the conditions for peace. Hosted by the Palestine Education Initiative, this is the fourth in a series of six Dublin lectures to be delivered by noted academics and activists.

When: 6:30 pm, Wednesday 24th April
Where: The Irish Aid Centre, 27-31 Upper O’Connell Street, Dublin 1

Description

Trócaire has been working in Palestine and Israel for the past ten years. Unlike many of its overseas operations however, its work there does not support traditional aid projects but instead focuses upon the protection and development of human rights. Speaking up against injustices however, has led some to accuse the organisation of bias and of being overtly political. To explain Trócaire’s position, Garry Walsh will outline what exactly Trócaire is doing there and why it feels it is playing a constructive role in building a just peace.

Opportunities for questions and discussion will also be available at the close.
