[Dublin] Fundraiser for the Palestinian Hunger Strikers (SJPD)

Students for Justice in Palestine – Dublin Fundraiser for the Palestinian hunger strikers – TUESDAY 30th MAY 6:30pm – 9:30pm.

PLEASE JOIN & SHARE THE EVENT ON FACEBOOK, THANKS!

April 17th to May 27th, approximately 1,500 Palestinian political prisoners went on a “Freedom & Dignity Hunger Strike”, calling for: more frequent and lengthy family visits, improved medical care for prisoners, and an end to the practice of solitary confinement and Administrative Detention (internment without charge or trial), among other demands. The hunger strike was successful.

However, there are still over 6,300 Palestinian political prisoners in Israel’s jails. 300 of these are children, 61 are women, 13 are members of the Palestinian parliament (including two of the hunger strike’s leaders Marwan Barghouthi and Ahmad Sa’adat).

SJP have organised this open mic and music night as a solidarity fundraiser for Palestinian political prisoners – and particularly those who have survived and finished their hunger strike. All are welcome to attend at any point in the evening (6.30-9.30pm) – and supporters are invited to bring a poem, song or reflection to perform. The event is free, but donations will be accepted on the night. All proceeds will be donated to http://www.addameer.org/ and www.bdsmovement.net.

Musicians, poets and activists can register their intention to perform at the following link, by contacting the SJP Facebook page, or in person on the 30th: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jrtJrDBv8XHniJIhXzS25EMlNadAAuADW3RCVwW7BXY/edit

Thanks in advance for your support. Free Palestine!
