[Dublin] SENDIANA – An Irish celebration of Palestine through dance, music, spoken word & theatre (PalFest Ireland)

SENDIANA – An Irish celebration of Palestine through dance, music, spoken word and theatre.

8pm Liberty Hall Friday 11th May.

The acorn – in Arabic Sendiana – is a symbol for a brave old woman who has given birth to many generations, her roots growing deeply and the shelter of her leaves spread wide.

Sendiana is an Irish welcome to Liberty Hall for a Palestinian grandmother to mark 70 years since the Nakba in 1948 when three quarters of a million Palestinians were forced to flee their homes. Dance, music, poetry, live theatre and spoken word tell the story of Palestine from a uniquely Irish perspective. Live Irish and Arabic music fuse and Irish dance meets Palestinian Dabke.

Artists from Ireland and Palestine contributing to Sendiana include spoken word artist Rafeef Ziadah with a specially-written body of new work, music from Kila, theatre director Jim Culleton, artist Robert Ballagh, Palestinian-Irish writer Hannah Khalil, sean-nós dancer Edwina Guckian with Syrian dabke dancers, CYD dance, Sharon Murphy with Forever Young choir and very special guests.
