[Dublin] Protest in Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists (NUJ Dublin Broadcasting Branch)
The NUJ Dublin Broadcasting Branch will demonstrate outside the Israeli embassy in Ballsbridge this Thursday April 12th at 6pm to protest the killing of Palestinian journalist Yasser Murtaja, who was shot by Israeli forces while covering a demonstration in the Gaza Strip.
Please come along and express your opposition to attacks on journalists as they go about their work.
Yasser was wearing a protective vest with the inscription “Press” that clearly identified him as a journalist. He was a photographer with the Gaza based Ain Media agency and was one of nine people killed after Israeli troops used live fire. Reporters Without Borders says at least six other journalists were injured.
The NUJ has condemned the killing and called for an independent investigation. General Secretary Michelle Stanistreet has also called on the British and Irish governments to formally protest at the actions of the Israeli forces on Friday.
Please join us outside the Israeli Embassy at 6pm on Thursday April 12th.
All welcome. If you oppose attacks on journalists join us!
Organised by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Dublin Broadcasting Branch.
