[Dublin] Le Trio Joubran in concert (Waltons World Masters)
Le Trio Joubran is a Palestinian oud trio formed of three brothers – Samir, Wissam and Adnan – originally from Nazareth and now touring and performing worldwide, along with master percussionist Youssef Hbeisch. Coming from a family steeped in Palestine’s rich musical history (their father Hatem Mbadda Joubran, arguably the greatest oud maker in the Arab world, and their mother Ibtisam Hanna Joubran, a singer, both come from long lines of musicians), the brothers have had a glittering career on the international scene. Their repertoire not only pays homage to this four thousand year old instrument but also takes inspiration from jazz and flamenco and is filled with rich, subtle melodies and magnificent improvisations. Hearing is believing. Quite simply, Le Trio Joubran is one of the most exciting instrumental groups in the world.
Wistful and brooding, yet always ravishingly tasteful….There are few enough oud (Arab lute) ensembles in the world and none that come close to Trio Joubran for imaginative compositions and intuitive interplay….the ultimate masters of the oud ensemble.’ – Songlines Magazine
‘The trio of intensely inspired and passionate musicians manages to triumph with a music that both moves the soul and makes the heart race with its fearless brilliance and command.’ – John Adams, Composer in Residence at Carnegie Hall
