During fifty days in July and August the diamond-funded Israeli military pounded the besieged Gaza strip with an estimated 700 tons of explosives from land, sea and air. Over 2200 people were killed, the vast majority of them civilians including over 500 children. Thousands more were injured maimed and traumatised. Despite the fact that diamonds are a major source of funding for the regime in Israel the jewellery industry continues to profit from these blood diamonds and deceitfully claim they are conflict-free. Diamonds that fund war crimes and crimes against humanity are blood diamonds.
