[Cork] Swim With Gaza

Since 2007 the people of Gaza have been imprisoned. They have no parks, no mountains, no valleys; no escape.
But they have the sea – their only free space for fun.
Let’s join them in the sea for a solidarity swim. Each year they have a swimming festival on Gaza beach called the Gaza Swimming Carnival.
This year the Swimming Festival will be held on Saturday 26th August – and in act of solidarity we aim to join thousands of other people around the world swimming in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
So please join us on Saturday 26th August at 3pm at Fountainstown Beach near Cork City to swim, paddle, wade or just splash in solidarity.
What to Bring: It’s not mandatory, but it would be great if people could wear red, black, green or white swimming gear – the colours of the Palestinian flag; it will make for some great photos that we can send to Gaza. Palestinian flags, football jerseys, keffiyeh scarves are all welcome too.
There will be free sauna for the swimmers, so if you are swimming you will need to register to secure a place – REGISTER HERE
Getting There: Fountainstown Beach (map) can be easily reached by bus from Cork city (Route:220X ). There is also ample parking just in front of the beach
IMPORTANT NOTE: Fountainstown Beach is a safe beach and has a lifeguard on duty; however by joining this solidarity event you are doing so at your own risk, and thereby indemnifying the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign from any culpability in the event of accident, death, etc.
