This will be very much a ‘family’ event and there will be opportunities for all ages to participate.
We will make our way to the pedestrian area on Grand Parade beside the river Lee.
551 names, representing all the Palestinian children killed in the attack will be written on ribbons and tied to the railings of the footbridge over the river. A single ribbon to represent the only Israeli child that died during the attack will also be included.
Flowers will be thrown into the river as a memorial. Please bring some with you – wild or cultivated varieties.
Children will have an opportunity to place their handprint on fabric to be sent to Gaza as a message of solidarity.
There will be live music, entertainers and an atmosphere that, while celebrating the short lives of these children, will acknowledge the pointless tragedy behind this monstrous crime.
Please, share the information to encourage friends and families to come along – and if you can, print the attached poster to help publicise the event. If you haven’t the facilities to reproduce the poster, you can collect them from the Quay Co-op shop on Sullivan’s Quay.
Hope to see you there.
