In a letter published in today’s Irish Times, 18 leading Irish and Palestinian human rights and Palestine solidarity organisations have called for Israel to immediately release Palestinian human rights defender and prisoner of conscience Mahmoud Nawajaa, the General Coordinator of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. “Mr Nawajaa is a human rights defender and community leader who has been imprisoned solely for exercising his rights to freedom of expression and association. 150 trade unions, parties, NGOs and faith groups call on EU to stop funding Israeli arms companies

Today, on the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Political Prisoners, more than 150 European trade unions, political parties, human rights organizations and faith groups from over 16 European countries issued a call urging the EU to uphold its legal responsibilities and exclude Israeli military companies from EU Framework Programs. This call – accompanied by an explainer video – comes at a time when at least 35 unarmed Palestinians have been shot dead by Israeli snipers during three weeks of protests at Gaza’s border with Israel. WATCH: National Demonstration for Freedom & Justice in Palestine

On Saturday 10th June around 1,500 people from all over Ireland (and further afield) marched in a National Demonstration to mark the 50th anniversary of Israel’s occupation and illegal colonisation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) organised the event to convey a simple message, that  ‘100 years of injustice & 50 years of occupation is enough! IPSC salutes the Musicians’ Union of Ireland’s decision to boycott Apartheid Israel

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) warmly welcomes and commends the Musicians’ Union of Ireland (MUI) for passing a motion in support of the cultural boycott of apartheid Israel. A cultural boycott of Israel has been called for by Palestinian civil society since 2004. 8000 strong petition handed to Dunnes Stores calling for a boycott of illegal Israeli settlement goods

On Wednesday 17th December members and supporters of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign handed in a petition signed by over 8,000 people calling on Irish supermarket chain Dunnes Stores to make a public commitment that their outlets will not stock goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. The petition – signatures for which were collected on streets around Ireland during 2014 – was initiated to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the 1984 Dunnes Stores anti-Apartheid strike by IDATU (now called Mandate) trade union members in Dublin’s Henry Street, and calls on Dunnes to support justice for … Continue reading

Report: Israeli Apartheid Week 2014

Between 1st and 8th March, Ireland took part in the 10th annual Israeli Apartheid Week with a series of events including meetings and protests organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC). On Saturday 1st March, the Dublin IPSC branch of the kicked off  IAW with a Boycott Israeli Goods day of action. We visited four city centre supermarkets, making consumers aware of their presence, the connection between these products and the occupation of Palestine and asking people to boycott them. Victory in Galway as NUIG Students’ Union votes to join BDS movement

Palestinian academics, teachers and writers welcome TUI boycott Israel call

Palestinian unions representing lecturers, university employees, teachers and writers have praised the Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI) for its endorsement of an academic boycott of Israel. In a letter saluting the TUI, the Palestinians said the clarity of the union’s statement was “unprecedented”.
