The headline in today’s Irish Independent reads ‘Leaders meet with talks deadlocked over carbon taxes, housing and Israel’. The article goes on to say that a “crunch summit” TODAY “is expected to focus on proposals to ban the importation of Israeli goods produced in occupied Palestinian territories, as this issue has been passed on to the leaders after the negotiators could not reach agreement.” Your lobbying is working, together we have managed to push the Occupied Territories Bill to forefront of the government formation agenda! We are thrilled to hear that both Fianna Fáil and the Green Party have been … Continue reading →

Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party are deep in negotiations to form the next government. They will soon begin discussing matters of foreign affairs – and we need to make sure that Fianna Fáil and the Greens know they can’t just forget about their election commitments that they would support the passage of the Occupied Territories Bill into law. Indeed, we are very concerned that the Occupied Territories Bill will be discarded by the parties during government negotiations even though it is supported by the overwhelming majority of TDs and Senators. To ensure that this doesn’t happen it … Continue reading →

Dear members and supporters of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), we hope that you and your loved ones are doing as well as you can be in these very difficult and uncertain times, we are thinking of you and send our best wishes to you all. Today we commemorate Palestinian Land Day, which marks the date in 1976 when Palestinian citizens of Israel were gunned down, six of them murdered, while protesting for their rights – and also marks the second anniversary of the Great March of Return in Gaza. Sadly, four decades later those rights are still to be … Continue reading →

It seems increasingly likely that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael will form a coalition government together very soon. We believe that it is important that even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the incredible strain and, sadly, increasing tragedy, that has been placed upon people in Ireland as a result, that we do not forget about our sisters and brothers in Palestine. We are asking our supporters to write to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin, Fianna Fail foreign affairs spokesperson Seán Haughey, and to your local Fianna … Continue reading →

On April 15th Fianna Fail and Fine Gael published a ‘framework document’ for the formation of the next government. Unfortunately this document does not contain any commitment to passing the Occupied Territories Bill that would ban trade with Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. However it is important to note that, as Fianna Gael Chairman Martin Hayden said, “this is not a program for government, but starting point to facilitate negotiations with smaller parties and independents in order to develop a government.” Furthermore, Fianna Fáil TDs have indicated to us that they would like to see the Occupied Territories Bill form … Continue reading →

The Irish general election of 8th February saw the election of 62 TDs who endorsed the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s three #PalestinePledges, while a number of the other 147 candidates who signed up narrowly missed out on taking seats. The pledges call on candidates to Support a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal colonial settlements in Palestine Support an end to the Irish arms trade with Israel, and an end to EU funding of Israeli military manufactures Support free speech and protection of the right to engage in boycott, divestment and sanctions campaigning in the face of efforts to silence and … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity (IPSC) campaign stands with the millions of Palestinians all over the world who have condemned and rejected the Trump Administration’s so-called ‘Deal of the Century’, which yesterday was unveiled in full. IPSC Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi, herself a Palestinian, said: “This is not a deal, this is a re-partitioning of Palestine accompanied by a list of unacceptable demands placed upon the Palestinian people insisting upon our total surrender; namely the renunciation of our human, national, democratic, territorial and economic rights – not least the right of return for millions of refugees, the right to self-determination in our … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has welcomed the support from over 140 general election candidates for a series of election pledges supporting justice for the Palestinian people. At least 147 candidates, from most parties and many independents, have signed the three pledges, which were also endorsed collectively by Sinn Féin, The Green Party, Solidarity, People Before Profit, Rise, and The Workers’ Party. At least one candidate in every constituency endorsed the pledges, while in some constituencies some half to three quarters of candidates declared their support. The pledges call on candidates to Support a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal … Continue reading →

You. Have. Been. Amazing! Within 3 weeks we – the IPSC and our European Coalition partners in the ECCP – managed to collect over €10000 for legal proceedings at the European Court of Justice, where we’ll challenge European complicity with Israel’s illegal settlements. Thank you all so much for your generous support – and please keep an eye on our website and social media for further campaign and legal updates!

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is asking our members and supporters to make justice for the Palestinian people an issue in the 2020 Irish General Election. We have produced a short handout with three important issues to raise with canvassers on the doorsteps, or to contact candidates about, and have initiated a campaign asking the candidates to take our three #PalestinePledges in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom, justice and equality. The handout contains questions and important information related to • Support for a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal colonial settlements in Palestine • Support for an end … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign condemned the Trump administration’s statement that the United States will no longer consider Israeli colonial settlements in Palestine to be illegal. The Palestinian rights advocacy organisation further called on the Irish government to move beyond mere condemnations and act to ban trade with the illegal settlements by supporting Frances Black’s Occupied Territories Bill. IPSC Chairperson, Ms. Fatin Al Tamimi, said “This statement has zero legal validity under international law, and flies in the face of the long-established view held by the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the European Union, the Irish government and every … Continue reading →

Earlier this year a coalition of European Palestine solidarity groups attempted to use the European Citizens’ Initiative mechanism as a means to voice out our call for action against all illegal settlements. This is a mechanism under which 1 million European citizens can compel a debate on an issue of concern. In this case we wanted to see a proper debate on the EU’s legal obligations towards non-recognition of, and non-assistance to, illegal settlements in occupied territories, including Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. However, the European Commission refused to even register our Initiative! It is clear, the Commission doesn’t want … Continue reading →
