Duncan Casey says #BoycottPUMA! Will you join him?

PUMA’s new marketing campaign, Only See Great, claims to spark a spirit of “optimism” and “hope.” Yet PUMA remains the main sponsor of the Israel Football Association, which includes teams in Apartheid Israel’s illegal settlements in occupied Palestine. As protests take place across the world ahead of the PUMA shareholders meeting on May 5, take action now to tell PUMA: We don’t need “inspiring” marketing ploys. We need PUMA to stop supporting Israeli apartheid. Click to Tweet at PUMA: Palestinians #OnlySeeApartheid Retired Irish rugby player Duncan Casey says: “Sport is about fair play and inclusion. On eve of AXA’s annual general meeting (AGM), United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Michael Lynk, called on the French insurance giant to fully divest from Israeli banks. The warning came as protests took place in Dublin and other European cities to demand AXA divests from Israeli banks that fuel apartheid. Pledge to Boycott AXA: the insurance company of Israeli apartheid

AXA profits from Israel’s oppression of Palestinians. The French insurance company, the second biggest insurance company in the world, is active in 57 countries and has over 108 million clients. Sign The Pledge to Boycott Axa Here! Even though AXA has human rights and environment policies it invests $7 million in three Israeli banks named in the UN database of companies involved in business with Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise: Bank Leumi, Israeli Discount Bank and Mizrahi Tefahot Bank. Noting that “Apartheid is a crime against humanity, giving rise to individual criminal responsibility and State responsibility to bring the illegal situation to an end,” the letter calls on all the UN General Assembly, which begans its 75th session yesterday, to: Launch international investigations into Israel’s apartheid regime over the Palestinian people, including by reconstituting the … Continue reading

UAE-Israel Agreement: An abandonment of Palestinian rights that must be rejected

Last week’s announcement of the normalisation of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is no cause for celebration. While it should come as little surprise given that friendly relations between the two were an open secret for decades, the formalisation of the agreement is nevertheless paid for in the negation of Palestinian fundamental rights – not least the right to self-determination. Instead of centring Palestinian rights as the pivot upon which to build a just and sustainable peace, this agreement actually does the opposite; it gives important diplomatic cover to Israel’s ongoing violations of these rights. This is … Continue reading

IPSC determined to help push Occupied Territories Bill forward

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign condemns the failure of the negotiating parties to include an explicit reference to the Occupied Territories Bill in the Programme for Government. The IPSC will, nevertheless, continue to hold the government accountable to the Programme for Government’s clearly stated commitment that Ireland will be adhering to its “obligations under international law” with regard to Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. IPSC members are aggrieved  that the Occupied Territories Bill was discarded from the Programme for Government at the last minute, seemingly to mollify the Fine Gael leadership who, for political reasons, continue attempts to block this legislation. … Continue reading

Sunset for international law? Israel’s annexation plan and the re-partition of Palestine

From the first of July the government of Israel is planning to bring forth legislation to unilaterally annex Israel’s illegal settlements and the Jordan Valley region of the Palestinian West Bank. This constitutes an area of roughly 30% of the West Bank, and will be in addition to Israel’s already illegal annexations of Palestinian East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan Heights. This is an attempt to re-partition Palestine, and represents the latest phase in the ongoing Nakba endured by the Palestinian people. The annexation plan eliminates whatever diminished prospect still exists of achieving a viable sovereign independent state. In its … Continue reading
