In a letter published today in the Irish Times newspaper, Minister of State Finian McGrath and fifty other Irish TDs and Senators have called for an arms embargo to be placed on Israel, and for “an end to the bi-lateral arms trade between Ireland and the apartheid state”. In addition to independent Minister McGrath, the signatories include members of Sinn Féin, Solidarity-People Before Profit, Labour, the Green Party, Independents 4 Change and other independent members of the Oireachtas, who condemn “the shooting dead of some 205 [Palestinian] protestors, including 40 children, and wounding of more than 5,000 people by live … Continue reading →

The Trump-Netanyahu axis has been a disaster for the Palestinian people. In an attempt to allow Israel to dictate illegal terms to the Palestinians, the Trump administration has enacted a series of harsh policies, including recognising occupied Jerusalem as the capital of apartheid Israel, threatening the International Criminal Court, and cutting all funding to UNRWA, the agency responsible for providing education and healthcare to millions of Palestinian refugees. Meanwhile, attempts continue to brutally suppress Palestinian resistance, with almost 400 unarmed protesters shot dead and thousands wounded in Gaza and thousands of prisoners – including hundreds of children – still in … Continue reading →

Statement regarding the attempts by the Israeli government to force the closure the bank accounts of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign and other Irish human rights advocacy groups – we ask you to contact Ministers and your local TDs urging action to protect our work for Palestine: In a move that shows the extent to which Israel fears the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights, it was today revealed that the Israeli government is directly interfering with an Irish bank to attempt to close down the bank accounts of groups, including the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), that … Continue reading →

Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi was a speaker alongside the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, author Nell Regan, the indomitable community workers Rita Fegan and Fidelma Bonass at an International Women’s Day event in Dublin’s Richmond Barracks, organised by the St. Michaels Estate Family Resource Centre. Ms. Tamimi’s speech praised the role of women in the Palestinian fight for freedom, justice and equality, and located the struggle for Palestinian liberty within the broader struggle against oppression and injustice everywhere. She ended by reading a poem entitled ‘Here We Shall Stay’ by Palestinian poet Tawfiq Ziad. During … Continue reading →

Celebrating 14 years! Israeli Apartheid Week is an annual international series of events held across the globe. Each year, Israeli Apartheid Week takes place across the world. It aims to raise awareness about Israel’s ongoing settler-colonial project, apartheid policies over the Palestinian people, and to build support for the growing campaign of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel. Please join us in making the the 14th Israeli Apartheid Week one of the biggest yet. A report released earlier this year by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) proves beyond doubt that Israel has imposed a system of … Continue reading →

Although long suspected, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) yesterday learned via news reports that the organisation is one of 20 human rights advocacy groups on an official Israeli state blacklist, meaning that its members are banned from entering Israel, and thus, from entering Israeli-occupied Palestine. The Israeli apartheid regime fears solidarity so much it seeks to stop us from visiting our friends and colleagues in the Palestine-Israel region. Although appalling, saddening and manifestly anti-democratic, the IPSC views its appearance on this list as a badge of honour and a vindication of our work in solidarity with the people of Palestine … Continue reading →

To commemorate the ninth anniversary of the Israeli ‘Operation Cast Lead’ attack on Gaza, and to highlight Israeli’s ongoing brutality coupled with the cruel and illegal siege of Gaza, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) staged a series of solidarity vigils around Ireland on New Years’ Eve. Protesters gathered on the Dublin’s Ha’penny Bridge, Sligo’s Hyde Bridge, Derry’s Peace Bridge, Thomas Street in Limerick, in Galway’s Eyre Square, and even on the Cliffs of Moher to remember the victims of the attacks on Gaza in 2008/9, 2012, 2014 and all the killings that have taken place over the past three years, … Continue reading →

Today, November 29th, is International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and we in the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) send greetings of solidarity from Ireland to Palestinians everywhere as they struggle for their freedom and self-determination. The UN chose this day, 29th November, to mark the shameful day in 1947 when the UN voted to partition Palestine against the wishes of the indigenous people – an act that would lead to the ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 Palestinians during the Nakba (catastrophe) between 1947 and 1949. 70 years on, Palestinians continue to suffer the disastrous consequences of that imperial … Continue reading →

Today the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) hosted a symbolic demonstration outside the British Embassy in Dublin to commemorate the centenary of the Balfour Declaration. At the gathering, the IPSC handed in a letter calling for Britain to take action to atone for its historic and ongoing role in Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people. On 2nd of November 1917, in furtherance of its imperial ambitions in the Middle East, the British Government under Lloyd George made a promise to the Zionist Federation that it would ‘establish a national home for the Jewish people’ in Palestine. This promise, contained in a … Continue reading →
