There were tears and joy as, her spirit unbroken, young Palestinian hero Ahed Tamimi was this morning released from eight months in the Israeli occupation’s prisons, finally reunited with her family and her people. Her mother Nariman was released alongside her, where they were greeted rapturously by supporters. Ahed was jailed for the ‘crime’ of slapping an Israeli occupation solider that had invaded her village. An occupation soldier who shot a wounded Palestinian man dead on camera received a sentence of just 9 months. This is how the apartheid injustice system works – one law for the colonisers, another for … Continue reading →

The 150 strong list of signatories includes 20 signatories from Ireland, including political parties … Continue reading →

Higgins, author Nell Regan, the indomitable community workers Rita Fegan and Fidelma Bonass at an International Women’s Day event in Dublin’s Richmond Barracks, organised by the St. Michaels Estate Family Resource Centre. Ms. Tamimi’s speech praised the role of women in the Palestinian fight for freedom, justice and equality, and located the struggle for Palestinian liberty within the broader struggle against oppression and injustice everywhere. She ended by reading a poem entitled ‘Here We Shall Stay’ by Palestinian poet Tawfiq Ziad. During … Continue reading →

Although long suspected, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) yesterday learned via news reports that the organisation is one of 20 human rights advocacy groups on an official Israeli state blacklist, meaning that its members are banned from entering Israel, and thus, from entering Israeli-occupied Palestine. The Israeli apartheid regime fears solidarity so much it seeks to stop us from visiting our friends and colleagues in the Palestine-Israel region. Although appalling, saddening and manifestly anti-democratic, the IPSC views its appearance on this list as a badge of honour and a vindication of our work in solidarity with the people of Palestine … Continue reading →

Today, November 29th, is International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and we in the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) send greetings of solidarity from Ireland to Palestinians everywhere as they struggle for their freedom and self-determination. The UN chose this day, 29th November, to mark the shameful day in 1947 when the UN voted to partition Palestine against the wishes of the indigenous people – an act that would lead to the ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 Palestinians during the Nakba (catastrophe) between 1947 and 1949. 70 years on, Palestinians continue to suffer the disastrous consequences of that imperial … Continue reading →

On Saturday 28th October 2017 members and supporters of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign engaged in street theatre in Dublin’s Grafton Street shopping district. The action explored the experiences of Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season, which is underway right now. The period always sees an uptick in the number of violent attacks on Palestinian farmers and their olive groves by illegal Israeli colonial settlers, backed up by the Israeli occupation forces. Olive trees carry more than an economic significance in the lives of Palestinians. They are not just like any another trees, they are symbolic of Palestinians’ attachment to … Continue reading →

On Saturday 27th May, after 41 days of a mass hunger strike involving some 1,500 Palestinian political prisoners, the leaders of the strike declared victory and suspended the strike. 80% of the hunger strikers’ demands for basic rights have been met. We salute the steadfastness of the strikers in their quest for justice – and sincerely thank all those who took part in solidarity actions over the past month. The IPSC had planned a 24 hour solidarity fast for Wednesday 31st May in order to try to highlight the strike which had been largely ignored by the mainstream media in … Continue reading →

Kildare County Councillors will vote on Monday 29th May on a motion which will allow the Palestinian flag to be flown above the Council offices for a week in June. Independent Cllr Joanne Pender has proposed a motion which acknowledges recent moves in the Dáil towards full recognition of the state of Palestine and asks Councillors to supporting flying the flag for a week in June to mark 50 years of occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Why are 1,500 Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike? On Monday 17th April – Palestinian Prisoners’ Day – around 1,500 Palestinian political prisoners in Apartheid Israel’s jails began what they call the Freedom & Dignity Hunger Strike. The primary reasons the prisoners are on hunger strike is to secure more frequent and lengthy family visits, better prison conditions such as improved medical care, and an end to the practice of solitary confinement and Administrative Detention (internment without charge or trial). How many Palestinian political prisoners does Israel hold? At present there are over 6,300 Palestinian political prisoners in Israel’s jails. … Continue reading →
