Please spare a couple of minutes to write to the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs to raise the urgent case of Palestinian human rights defender Salah Hammouri, held without charge or trial by Israel under administrative detention since March 2022. The Israeli authorities have now revoked his Jerusalem residency, and plan to deport him from his home city of Jerusalem on Sunday 4 December.

On 22nd October, Apartheid Israel moved to criminalise and ban six prominent civil society organisations, an escalation in its systematic targeting of human rights defenders, and an attempt to evade accountability for its violations of international law. Click here to take action! The six organisations are: Addameer, Al-Haq, Bisan Center for Research and Development, Defense for Children International – Palestine, Union of Agricultural Work Committees, and Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees. They are all internationally renowned, principled, and effective Palestinian human rights organisations doing critical work protecting women’s rights, supporting famers impacted by Israel’s illegal land grabs, and supporting the … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) unreservedly condemns a military order issued last week by the Israeli Ministry of Defence that aims to criminalise and ban six prominent, highly respected and effective Palestinian human rights organisations. The groups in question are Defense for Children International Palestine, Al-Haq, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, Bisan Center for Research and Development and the Union of Palestinian Women Committees. This is a dangerous and deplorable decision, the culmination of decades of the Israeli state’s attempts to smear, silence and shut down Palestinian civil society organisations and to … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has praised the publication of a new report by Human Rights Watch showing that Israel is committing the dual crimes against humanity of Apartheid and Persecution of the Palestinian people. The report, entitled ‘A Threshold Crossed: Israeli Authorities and the Crimes of Apartheid and Persecution’, is the latest in a long line of human rights organisations levelling similar charges against Israel, and also calls for international sanctions against the Israeli state and individuals implicated in these crimes. Earlier this month, US-based security company Allied Universal acquired G4S, creating the world’s largest security company. #StopG4S was launched by Palestinian civil society organizations in 2012, to support a historic hunger strike by Palestinian political prisoners. Trade unions, churches, and grassroots movements across over 25 countries joined the campaign that cost G4S contracts worth millions of dollars. The #StopG4S campaign has already shown its impact. In December 2016, G4S sold its subsidiary, G4S Israel, to the Israeli equity fund FIMI. Until then, G4S was responsible for running Israeli prisons, where Palestinian political prisoners are held without trial and subjected to … Continue reading →

Dear friends, My name is Khalil Al Halabi, the father of Mohammad Al Halabi, the former World Vision-Australia director for the West Bank and Gaza. Mohammad was arrested on false allegations in June 2016 and is held in the notorious Ramon Prison in Israel. UN experts have called for his release. I am calling on all friends of Palestine to participate in a Month of Action in January by sending the following letter to the Irish Government demanding action to secure my innocent son’s immediate release. Our family, including Mohammed’s five young children, are desperate to have him free and … Continue reading →

Mahmoud Nawajaa, the recently released Palestinian human rights defender and General Coordinator of the BDS Movement has released the following statement thanking all who stood in solidarity with him and acted to secure his release. We are happy to share it below: It was 3:30 am, just before Eid al-Adha. We had prepared ourselves to celebrate the holiday in our new dream home, which took us years to finish. Tens of Israeli soldiers, with dogs, stormed our home, terrifying our three children. They took me blindfolded and handcuffed to a military interrogation center near Haifa. I wish I could visit … Continue reading →

Today, Palestinian human rights defender and General Coordinator of the BDS Movement, Mahmoud Nawajaa, was released by an Israeli military court, after 19 days of illegal detention without charges. Since his arrest on July 30, the Israeli internal security Shin Bet has failed to present any formal charges against him. His release comes on the back of an intensive global campaign to pressure Israel to free him. Palestinian and international civil society organisations like the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC), Front Line Defenders, Amnesty International and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) called and campaigned for his release … Continue reading →

In a letter published in today’s Irish Times, 18 leading Irish and Palestinian human rights and Palestine solidarity organisations have called for Israel to immediately release Palestinian human rights defender and prisoner of conscience Mahmoud Nawajaa, the General Coordinator of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. “Mr Nawajaa is a human rights defender and community leader who has been imprisoned solely for exercising his rights to freedom of expression and association. He is therefore a prisoner of conscience, and he must be immediately and unconditionally released. Both the Irish Government and the EU must loudly echo this call … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has condemned last night’s arrest and detention of well known Palestinian human rights defender Mahmoud Nawajaa (34), the General Coordinator of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC). According to reports from Palestine, at around 3.30am last night, dozens of Israeli occupation soldiers stormed the village of Abu Qash near Ramallah, kicked in the door of Mr. Nawajaa’s house, handcuffed and blindfolded him in front of his family, and then hauled him off to Jalameh prison inside the state of Israel. The BNC is a broad coalition of over 200 Palestinian civil society organisations … Continue reading →
