Action Item: Sign petition ‘Remove UEFA 2013 European Under-21 Championship from Israel’

It took three months of hunger strike and the near death of a Palestinian footballer, held for three years without charge or trial under the ‘Unlawful Combatants Law’ which is itself illegal under international law, for the Israeli authorities to agree to a release deal. While we cautiously welcome the deal that should see Mahmoud Sarsak released on 10 July 2012, we are alarmed that Olympic squad goalkeeper Omar Abu Rois and Ramallah player Mohammed Nimr are also being held by Israel without charge. We maintain that a state which holds sportsmen as political prisoners is unfit to host an international sporting event. This … Continue reading

Action Item: Red Hot Chili Peppers please cancel your performance in Israel

Originially written by Tali Shapiro, a member of the group Boycott From Within, this petition is now a global call for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to cancel their scheduled performance in Tel Aviv. Already, US, Palestinian, Israeli, Turkish and Lebanese organizations have made requests for the Chili Peppers to not cross the international picket line and respect the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. We will continue to bring to light the injustices that Palestinians face as a result of Occupation and apartheid policies and show why BDS is a moral action for artists – including the Red … Continue reading

Action Item: Petition to CRH plc – Stop Cementing Misery in Palestine

PLEASE SIGN THIS IMPORTANT PETITION BY CLICKING HERE. We are asking the Ireland based company, CRH plc, to respect the human rights of the Palestinian people by divesting their 25% share of Israel’s sole cement producer, Nesher Cement Enterprises . This cement is being extensively used in the construction of the illegal West Bank wall and the massive expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied territories of Palestine. These activities are illegal under international law. In order to make way for these construction projects Palestinian homes are being demolished and their farms are being destroyed daily. Life for the Palestinian … Continue reading

‘CRH and the Apartheid Wall Roadshow’ comes to Wexford’s Bullring

People walking into Wexford town’s iconic Bullring on Saturday 24th March 2012 found themselves face to face with sirens, soldiers manning a menacing checkpoint, and a scale model of Israel’s illegal West Bank wall. Luckily it was just part of a street theatre event organised by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) to highlight awareness of the day to day horrors being endured by the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation, and highlighting the role Irish cement multinational CRH plays in the building of Israel’s Apartheid Wall and illegal Jewish-only settlements in the West Bank. To sign the IPSC’s petition calling … Continue reading

Action Item: Hana Shalabi Reaches 40 Days of Hunger Strike

EDIT 29 March 2012: According to breaking reports in the media, Hana has ended her hunger strike and will be exiled to Gaza. We are glad that Hana, who was in extremely bad condition when last seen by medics, will be freed and hope that her strike has not resulted in any lasting ill effects. However, we are disgusted that instead of releasing Hana – who has been held without charge for more than two years in total – back to her home, the Israeli state seeks to dictate the whereabouts in which someone can live. Hana is a Palestinian … Continue reading
