Shimon Peres: An unpunished war criminal and apologist for apartheid

Amid the inevitable deluge of whitewashed eulogies to former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres who died today, it is important to recall his real record in Israeli politics. Shimon Peres was the father of Israel’s illegal nuclear weapons program, and who offered to sell nuclear technology to Apartheid South Africa. In 1986 he oversaw the operation that led to the kidnap and imprisonment of Israeli nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu, who has been a prisoner of Israel in one form or another ever since. Anne Clinton: Palestine solidarity and anti-war activist – Rest in Power

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, especially the Limerick branch, along with Shannonwatch and Gaza Action Ireland, would like to express our deep sadness at the passing of our dear friend Anne Clinton on Tuesday 6th May 2014. We would also like to extend our sincere sympathies to her husband Seán, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends. Anne was a warm, beautiful person who dedicated much of her life to solidarity with the Palestinian people. Ali Halimeh R.I.P. (1953-2012)

The IPSC has learned of the decease on 16th September, in South Africa, of Ali Halimeh, who was Delegate General of Palestine in Ireland from 2001-2005. He encouraged the setting-up of the IPSC and spoke eloquently at our founding meeting in Trinity College, Dublin, on 29th November 2001. He maintained close links to the organisation and arranged for many prominent Palestinians to speak at our public meetings. A Lebanese-born protégé of Yasser Arafat’s, he passionately espoused the politics of the Palestinian Authority.
