On eve of AXA’s annual general meeting (AGM), United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Michael Lynk, called on the French insurance giant to fully divest from Israeli banks. The warning came as protests took place in Dublin and other European cities to demand AXA divests from Israeli banks that fuel apartheid. AXA currently invests US$6 million in four Israeli banks which finance the illegal Israeli settlements on confiscated land in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT), including East Jerusalem. You Can Sign The Pledge to Boycott Axa Here! Speaking ahead of AXA’s AGM Mr Lynk … Continue reading →

Earlier this month, US-based security company Allied Universal acquired G4S, creating the world’s largest security company. #StopG4S was launched by Palestinian civil society organizations in 2012, to support a historic hunger strike by Palestinian political prisoners. Trade unions, churches, and grassroots movements across over 25 countries joined the campaign that cost G4S contracts worth millions of dollars. The #StopG4S campaign has already shown its impact. In December 2016, G4S sold its subsidiary, G4S Israel, to the Israeli equity fund FIMI. Until then, G4S was responsible for running Israeli prisons, where Palestinian political prisoners are held without trial and subjected to … Continue reading →

Today, 29th November, is International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The United Nations chose this day to mark the shameful day in 1947 when the UN voted to partition Palestine against the wishes of the indigenous people. 73 years on, the Palestinians continue to suffer the disastrous consequences of that imperial decision to allow the colonisation of Palestine. Also, on this day 19 years ago, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign was formed to stand in solidarity with Palestinian people. Our team of volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout these years for Palestinian rights. To mark this occasion we have produced … Continue reading →

Last week’s announcement of the normalisation of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is no cause for celebration. While it should come as little surprise given that friendly relations between the two were an open secret for decades, the formalisation of the agreement is nevertheless paid for in the negation of Palestinian fundamental rights – not least the right to self-determination. Instead of centring Palestinian rights as the pivot upon which to build a just and sustainable peace, this agreement actually does the opposite; it gives important diplomatic cover to Israel’s ongoing violations of these rights. This is … Continue reading →

Mahmoud Nawajaa, the recently released Palestinian human rights defender and General Coordinator of the BDS Movement has released the following statement thanking all who stood in solidarity with him and acted to secure his release. We are happy to share it below: It was 3:30 am, just before Eid al-Adha. We had prepared ourselves to celebrate the holiday in our new dream home, which took us years to finish. Tens of Israeli soldiers, with dogs, stormed our home, terrifying our three children. They took me blindfolded and handcuffed to a military interrogation center near Haifa. I wish I could visit … Continue reading →

Today, Palestinian human rights defender and General Coordinator of the BDS Movement, Mahmoud Nawajaa, was released by an Israeli military court, after 19 days of illegal detention without charges. Since his arrest on July 30, the Israeli internal security Shin Bet has failed to present any formal charges against him. His release comes on the back of an intensive global campaign to pressure Israel to free him. Palestinian and international civil society organisations like the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC), Front Line Defenders, Amnesty International and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) called and campaigned for his release … Continue reading →
