At 11:12 am (Irish time) Israeli forces made radio contact with the Tahrir and asked them to state their final destination. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign today announced that it had donated €1000 to the Irish Ship To Gaza Campaign. The money will help cover the costs of repairs to the MV Saoirse after the Israeli sabotage of the boat in June this year, and fuel for the when it sets sail to Gaza soon. IPSC Chairperson Martin O’Quigley said: “Although largely untalked about in the media, the illegal siege of Gaza remains in place, and the IPSC supports such civil society efforts to break this inhumane blockade once and for all. Irish Ship To Gaza, Press Release, Monday 31 October 2011, 10:30 am Renowned artist Robert Ballagh has donated all royalties from the recent performance of Riverdance in Israel to the Irish Ship to Gaza campaign. As the set designer for Riverdance, Mr. Ballagh had opposed the performance in Israel saying that Israel should be boycotted until Israeli apartheid policies against the Palestinians are ended. Thanking Mr Ballagh for his “principled advocacy of Palestinian human rights”, Dr. Fintan Lane, national coordinator of Irish Ship to Gaza, said: “This generous donation will be well deployed. In fact, the money will be used … Continue reading →

Initial reports suggest that the official Turkish investigation into the sabotage of the Irish ship MV Saoirse that was due to take part in the now Greek-impounded Freedom Flotilla Two will find that “the breakdown of the ship might not be a result of sabotage” and that even if it was sabotaged, it “was damaged before it entered Turkish waters”.[1] However, the Irish Ship To Gaza (ISTG)[2] campaign view such conclusions with deep suspicion. It remains the opinion of the Irish Ship To Gaza campaign that an act of underwater sabotage was conducted against the Irish boat, the MV Saoirse, … Continue reading →

Terrible news has reached us in the early hours of Thursday – the Irish Ship To Gaza, MV Saoirse, has been SABOTAGED, presumably by agents of Israel. The damage is extensive, and indeed, if it had gone undetected apparently may have been lıfe-threatenıng if the ship had been at sea. This is an unacceptable act of aggression against an Irish vessel (which is sovereign Irish territory), against the Freedom Flotilla, and most importantly against the people of Palestine which this flotilla was intending to reach in an act of humanitarian solidarity. Full details of the extent of the sabotage, including … Continue reading →

On Tuesday 28th June at 6pm the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) will hold a loud and colourful ‘Don’t Dance for Israeli Apartheid’ protest outside Riverdance’s opening night in the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. The protest was called to highlight the shameful fact that Riverdance is scheduled to tour Israel this September. The protest forms part of the international Cultural Boycott of Israel campaign which has seen many stars such as Roger Waters, Elvis Costello, Carlos Santana, Christy Moore and Damien Dempsey refuse to perform in Israel. The Palestinian call for a cultural boycott of Israel – until it ends … Continue reading →
