Sign the End Israeli Apartheid Pledge!

For more than 75 years Palestinians have lived under an Apartheid regime imposed by Israel. We are asking people to sign our pledge to help End Israeli Apartheid. Israel has created and maintained laws, policies, and practices that deliberately oppress Palestinians. This ensures Palestinians live under a system of Jewish-Israeli domination across Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and affects Palestinian refugees displaced in neighbouring countries. The system is enforced by acts such as forcible transfer, drastic movement restrictions, fragmentation of communities, unlawful killings, arbitrary detention and torture, separation of families and the denial of nationality and citizenship rights to … Continue reading

BDS Victory: G4S to divest from Apartheid Israel!

In a major win for human rights activism against corporate complicity, the world’s largest private security company Allied Universal, which owns G4S, has decided to sell all its remaining business in apartheid Israel. This follows years of an effective #StopG4S campaign waged by the BDS movement for Palestinian rights, including here in Ireland by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign. IPSC Chairperson Zoë Lawlor welcomed the news saying, “This is an amazing and hard-won victory for Palestinian rights, coming after years of dedicated campaigning by human rights and Palestine solidarity activists. It really says something about the rank toxicity of Apartheid Israel’s … Continue reading

IPSC expresses anger over Irish Government’s shameful refusal to support Settlements Divestment Bill

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign this evening expressed anger and frustration that the Irish government earlier refused to support the Illegal Israeli Settlements Divestment Bill, introduced into the Dáil by John Brady TD. Instead, the government will tomorrow vote to amend the Bill to delay any further discussion for nine months. The Bill seeks to prevent the Irish Strategic Investment Fund from investing in companies that appear on the ‘UN Database of Companies Operating in Illegal Israeli  Settlements’, of which the fund currently has shares in nine such entities, including four Israeli banks that finance the building of settlements. Zoë Lawlor, … Continue reading

Statement: 75 years of the Ongoing Nakba, 75 years of Ongoing Resistance

For more than 75 years, the Israeli-perpetrated ongoing Nakba has resulted in the protracted forced displacement of 66 percent of the Palestinian people. The ongoing Nakba is maintained by Israel’s colonial-apartheid regime’s policies and practices, namely: land confiscation and denial of use, denial of access to natural resources and services, annexation, suppression of resistance, denial of residency, segregation, fragmentation and isolation, the imposition of discriminatory planning and permit regime, and denial of reparations. The Israeli policies and practices that maintain this system and deny the Palestinian people’s rights to return and self-determination go beyond mere human rights violations. Rather, they … Continue reading

Report says Israel has killed 20 journalists in 22 years; no one has ever been held accountable

Ahead of the first anniversary of the killing of Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by the Israeli military, the New York based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) this week released a report detailing the killings of 20 journalists by Israeli forces over the past 22 years. As with the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, shot dead in the West Bank on May 11th 2022, the report reveals that no one has ever been held accountable for any of these deaths. The report states Israel’s reaction to Shireen’ Abu Akleh’s killing is “part of a deadly decades-long pattern”. The report … Continue reading

The EU is funding death, displacement and discrimination in Palestine

“Settlements are illegal under international law and their expansion must stop, as well as demolitions and evictions of Palestinians from their homes. [Israeli] military operations must be proportionate and in line with international humanitarian law.” – EU High Representative Josep Borrell, March 14th 2023 “EU-Israel cooperation is strong, and we want to further deepen our relationship.” – EU High Representative Josep Borrell, May 2nd 2023 These two conflicting statements highlight the deeply hypocritical nature of the EU’s stance with regard to Israel’s violations of international law and human rights abuses. While frequently expressing “deep concern” and even “condemning” Israel’s most … Continue reading

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is proud to announce that our ‘Irish Artists’ Pledge to Boycott Israel’ has just passed the 1,500 signatory mark, a hugely significant milestone in support for the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. SEE THE FULL LIST AT: https://www.ipsc.ie/pledge The Irish artists’ pledge was launched just over a decade ago, initiated by composer and IPSC co-founder Raymond Deane. WE WON! EU bosses must debate banning trade with Israeli settlements!

We have some incredible news for you – we have forced the European Commission to discuss banning trade with Israel’s illegal settlements! In February our European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) to ban EU trade with illegal settlements ended, without the campaign reaching the threshold of one million verified signatures. However, this was only Stage 1: once the ECI closed, our international coalition moved to have the EU Parliament’s Petition Committee (PETI) turn the ECI into an official petition to the European Commission, thereby compelling the EC to respond even without the million signatures. Today the PETI Committee voted unanimously to do … Continue reading

Urgent Action: Contact your TDs TODAY to support the Settlements Divestment Bill!

We need your help! We have learned that the hugely important Illegal Israeli Settlements Divestment Bill will be voted on in the Dáil this coming Tuesday, 16th May. The legislation, moved by John Brady TD, seeks to end Irish state investment in companies that are complicit in the building and maintenance of Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. All Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine are illegal under international law, and are war crimes under the Geneva Conventions. Essentially, if passed, it would compel the Irish Strategic Investment Fund to divest shareholdings in companies listed on the UN Database of businesses operating … Continue reading

#Nakba75 Events Around Ireland

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is organising events around Ireland to commemorate what Palestinians call Nakba Day which marks the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (‘Catastrophe’) which saw the expulsion of over 750,000 Palestinians, forcibly uprooted from their homeland in an act of ethnic cleansing that facilitated the foundation of the State of Israel. However, the Nakba didn’t end in 1948 – the Ongoing Nakba continues today, with Israel’s new government of extremists vowing to complete the process their colonial antecedents began. Join us at one of our event around the country to say ‘NO’ to Israeli Apartheid, occupation, war … Continue reading

IPSC condemns Israel, and international complicity, in death of Palestinian hunger-striker Khader Adnan

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) condemns the Apartheid State of Israel for overseeing the death by hunger strike of Palestinian political prisoner Khader Adnan. Adnan, 45, died yesterday after an 87-day hunger strike in protest at his unlawful detention without charge or trial. We in the IPSC echo the view of the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council that this was a “calculated and cold-blooded slow-killing.” Adnan’s death was a form of ‘murder by negligence’, and it is no surprise it has come at a time when Israel is moving to implement a new law that will allow executions of Palestinian … Continue reading

European Parliament’s PETI committee unanimously supports citizens’ call for ban on EU trade with illegal settlements

The European Commission must respond to a petition on EU trade with illegal settlements, and the European Parliament’s committee on international trade (INTA) should consider backing a ban, the European Parliament’s committee on petitions (PETI) decided unanimously today. The PETI committee today debated EU trade with illegal settlements following testimony from Dr. Tom Moerenhout, an international law expert and an organiser of the European Citizens Initiative (ECI) “Ensuring Common Commercial Policy conformity with EU Treaties and compliance with international law”. MEP Margrete Auken, a vice-chair of the PETI committee, initiated today’s discussion based on that ECI, which is supported by … Continue reading

Nine EU countries reject Israel’s criminalisation of Palestinian civil society organisations

Nine EU countries, including Ireland, issued a joint statement on Tuesday saying they will continue working with six Palestinian NGOs that Israel branded “terrorist organisations” last year, because Israel has failed to provide evidence to prove its claims. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign today welcomed the news. The nine countries are Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Holland, Spain and Sweden. The six Palestinian NGOs in question are Addameer, Al-Haq, the Bisan Center for Research & Development, Defense for Children International-Palestine, the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees and the Union of Agricultural Work Committees. The joint statement from the nine Foreign … Continue reading
