Take Action: IPSC calls for cancellation of Israel v Ireland U-21 game

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) reiterated calls for the cancellation of the away leg of the match between the Irish and Israeli U-21 teams, and for the expulsion of the Israeli FA from FIFA and UEFA due to Israel’s ongoing human rights abuses against the Palestinian people, including Palestinian sportspeople. The match is due to be played in Tel Aviv on 11th October, and when the home leg was played in Tallaght last year, the IPSC held a protest outside. We encourage our supporters to sign the following petition calling for the cancellation of the game and to write to … Continue reading

Justice v Apartheid: Israel’s attacks on Palestinian sport

Thursday’s protest outside the Dundalk FC v Maccabi Tel Aviv football match in Tallaght (7pm) will be a small act of solidarity with the people of Palestine who have suffered so much injustice, and continue to suffer daily, at the hands of the Israel’s apartheid regime due to the ongoing occupation of Palestine and the continual denial of rights to the Palestinian people. While there are those who insist that that sport and politics shouldn’t mix, we believe there is no place in sport for racism or teams who act as ambassadors for racist or apartheid states. As a member … Continue reading

Action Item: Sign petition ‘Remove UEFA 2013 European Under-21 Championship from Israel’

It took three months of hunger strike and the near death of a Palestinian footballer, held for three years without charge or trial under the ‘Unlawful Combatants Law’ which is itself illegal under international law, for the Israeli authorities to agree to a release deal. While we cautiously welcome the deal that should see Mahmoud Sarsak released on 10 July 2012, we are alarmed that Olympic squad goalkeeper Omar Abu Rois and Ramallah player Mohammed Nimr are also being held by Israel without charge. We maintain that a state which holds sportsmen as political prisoners is unfit to host an international sporting event. This … Continue reading

Dublin, Thur 23: Première of ‘Roadmap to Apartheid’ The IPSC was proud to present the Irish Premiere of the brand new film ‘Roadmap to Apartheid’, by film-makers Ana Nogueira & Eron Davidson,  a 90 minute documentary film looking at the current situation in Palestine through the lens of South African Apartheid; comparing the two regimes in a manner not flattering for … Continue reading

Love Under Apartheid – Don’t engage with Israeli Blood Diamonds!

It’s Valentine’s Day today. For some that means doing something special with the one you love. For others it may mean a bout of crushing loneliness. For others still it means a day invented to sell more products. If you are Khader Adnan, it means another day on hunger strike with the spectre of death closing in as you starve for political prisoners’ rights. Whatever it means to you personally, in Palestine, this Valentine’s Day will be just another day under Israel’s brutal Apartheid regime. This is a point well made by this very funny video produced by the people … Continue reading

Gardai break up peaceful protest outside Israeli Embassy sponsored film festival

A protest outside the Israeli Embassy sponsored “Israeli Film Days” in Temple Bar turned acrimonious this evening when Gardai broke up a peaceful demonstration by pro-Palestinian activists outside the venue. Citing Section 21 of the Public Order Act, Gardai forcibly removed around sixty activists from the area outside the venue, Filmbase, on Curved Street in Temple Bar, while others were removed from inside the venue. [Images below] Prior to the removal, the protestors had gathered to chant slogans and hand out leaflets explaining why they were opposed to the event. Between 5.30 and 6.40pm the activists held a loud, colourful, … Continue reading

The IPSC points to the sporting boycott against South Africa, which was one of the most effective tools employed in ostracising that state … Continue reading
