WATCH: National Demonstration for Freedom & Justice in Palestine

On Saturday 10th June around 1,500 people from all over Ireland (and further afield) marched in a National Demonstration to mark the 50th anniversary of Israel’s occupation and illegal colonisation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) organised the event to convey a simple message, that  ‘100 years of injustice & 50 years of occupation is enough! Take Action in support of flying Palestinian flag at Kildare County Council

Kildare County Councillors will vote on Monday 29th May on a motion which will allow the Palestinian flag to be flown above the Council offices for a week in June.  Independent Cllr Joanne Pender has proposed a motion which acknowledges recent moves in the Dáil towards full recognition of the state of Palestine and asks Councillors to supporting flying the flag for a week in June to mark 50 years of occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Take Action in support of flying Palestinian flag on Dublin City Hall

On March 30th the ‘Protocol Committee’ of Dublin City Council voted unanimously to fly the Palestinian flag from Dublin’s City Hall between 15 May and early June 2017, in what Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi called “a heartening gesture of solidarity“. This historic decision was greeted with joy and appreciation by Palestinians in Ireland, in Palestine and in the diaspora. On New Year’s Eve, members and supporters of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign in both Dublin and Sligo took to the streets to see out 2016 with displays of solidarity with the people of Palestine who face into another year of oppression, occupation, colonisation and injustice at the hands of the apartheid Israeli state. The gatherings were to mark the eighth anniversary of the 2008/09 massacre called ‘Operation Cast Lead’, when Israeli occupation forces attacked Gaza for 23 days killing over 1,400 Palestinians, including more than 300 children. Portadown IPSC/Gaza women’s project – latest update

In the aftermath of destructive military onslaught on Gaza by Israeli forces which cost the lives of over 2,000 Palestinians in 2014, Portadown IPSC made contact with community workers in Khan Younis to establish a means of providing material assistance to those most affected by the conflict. A proposal was received back from Gaza in relation to a potential project which sought to provide direct assistance to women in those families where the main bread-winner was either killed or seriously injured as a result of the Israeli bombardment. Gaza women’s project reaching fruition through Portadown IPSC support

A project in the Khan Younis area of Gaza, directly supported by the Portadown branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), will see training and employment opportunities created for at least sixty women in war-devastated region. In the aftermath of last year’s military onslaught on Gaza by Israeli forces which cost the lives of over 2,000 Palestinians, a number of people in Portadown who had previously been involved in various initiatives relating to Palestine came together to form a local branch of the Ireland Palestinian Solidarity Campaign.
