Take Action: Tell AXA to Divest from Israeli Apartheid!

Earlier today, SumOfUs published the report “AXA: Financing War Crimes” which shows that the French insurance giant AXA invests over $91 million in Israel’s largest private security and military company, Elbit Systems, and Israel’s five main banks, which operate in and serve Israel’s illegal settlements. Elbit Systems, Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Mizrahi Tefahot, First International Bank of Israel and Israel Discount Bank all support Israel’s illegal settlements and associated infrastructure, in addition to the unlawful use of armed force against Palestinians. This makes AXA complicit in serious violations of international law. It also violates AXA’s own responsible investment policies. Send … Continue reading

Ban Settlement Goods: Take Action to Support the Occupied Territories Bill

UPDATE 2 (31st Jan 2018): Unfortunately the bill was debated but not voted on, and a vote has been adjourned until sometime before July. It is worth noting that it was supported by Sinn Fein, Labour and many independent Senators, but opposed by the main government party Fine Gael and largest opposition party Fianna Fáil. Despite welcoming the strong and unequivocal condemnation of illegal Israeli settlements by all contributors to the debate, including the Táiniste and Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, we believe the failure of the Seanad to pass this bill at this juncture is, sadly, merely a prescription for … Continue reading

Take Action: Israel is deporting Irish people visiting Palestine – complain to our goverment

Dear friends, in case you missed this shocking news last week, while en route to occupied Palestine four Irish people were seized by Israeli authorities in Ben Gurion airport and deported. Below is a statement issued by the four deportees which includes a call for you to write to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney (minister@dfa.ie) voicing your concerns about this arbitrary expulsion of human rights activist to stop them from bearing witness to the effects of Israel’s apartheid regime. Of course, while these deportations pale in comparison to the treatment meted out to Palestinians on a daily basis, … Continue reading

3 Minutes for Palestine: Write to Minister for Foreign Affairs urging Irish action over Gaza crisis

Dear friends, The situation in Gaza has become unbearable for the two million people living under Israel’s decade-long illegal siege. Just last week the UN declared that “the ‘unliveability’ threshold has already been passed” in the strip and this has been compounded by Israel’s policy of reducing electricity supply to a few hours every day. For a decade of cruel and illegal siege, for three devastating criminal assaults, for near-daily ceasefire violations, and for making Gaza unlivable, the Israeli state has faced not a single sanction from the international community. This impunity must end, so we are asking you to … Continue reading

Take Action in support of flying Palestinian flag on Dublin City Hall

On March 30th the ‘Protocol Committee’ of Dublin City Council voted unanimously to fly the Palestinian flag from Dublin’s City Hall between 15 May and early June 2017, in what Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi called “a heartening gesture of solidarity“. This historic decision was greeted with joy and appreciation by Palestinians in Ireland, in Palestine and in the diaspora. However, the decision has still to be ratified at the next full meeting of Dublin City Council which will be held on Monday 8th May – it is not a sure thing, and your help is needed! … Continue reading

Action Item: Write to Minister of State John Halligan urging no collaboration with Apartheid Israel’s education ministry

The Irish Minister of State for Training, Skills and Innovation John Halligan is on an official visit to the Palestine-Israel region at the moment. We are informed that as part of his itinerary he is due to meet Naftali Bennett, the Israeli Minster for Education, to discuss “innovation and education”. Bennett is one of the most reprehensible and racist figures in the current Israeli government, which itself is widely considered to be the most extremist in Israel’s history. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) believes that such a meeting should not take place, and furthermore, that there should be no cooperation … Continue reading

Action Item: Bank of Ireland closes IPSC accounts – We need your help!

In a frankly shocking move, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) had its bank accounts closed last week by Bank of Ireland without any proper explanation other than we no longer met their “risk appetite”. It is a move which appears to be part of a campaign orchestrated by the Israeli government to silence organisations which support the global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign which aims to pressure Israel until it ends its occupation of Palestine and adheres fully to international law ensuring freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people. As the BDS movement has grown exponentially worldwide, marking … Continue reading

There were Boycott Israeli Goods information stalls and leafletting of shoppers in a dozen Irish towns and cities including Dublin, Belfast, Limerick, Cork, Galway, Dungannon, Naas, Kildare, Newbridge, Ennis and Sligo. We ask our supporters to themselves contact the Minister and ask that the Irish government speaks out against the plan, and takes action to stop both the demolition, and Israel’s ongoing violations of human rights and international law. URGENT ACTION ITEM: 24hrs to ensure Ireland votes for Gaza resolution at UN Human Rights Council

It is imperative that the Irish government vote in favour of the UN Human Rights Council resolution endorsing the conclusions of the ‘United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza Conflict’ and for national and international actions “to ensure justice for victims and accountability for perpetrators”. The vote will take place TOMORROW afternoon, Thursday 2nd July – in LESS THAN 24 HOURS! Last summer, as Israel was raining bombs down on the people of Gaza in an attack that killed over 2,200 Palestinians, including 550 kids, the Irish government shamefully abstained from the vote to establish this inquiry. … Continue reading

TAKE ACTION: Fair Play for Palestinian Football – Help ensure FAI & IFA support suspension of Israel from FIFA

As a result of Israel’s repression of Palestinian soccer, the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) is seeking to have Israel suspended from FIFA, the world governing body of the sport. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) fully support this move, and encourages all those concerned with justice in Palestine to take action to ensure that the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the Irish Football Association (IFA) support the Palestinian move at the FIFA Congress on May 29th. Sepp Blatter, the President of FIFA visited the Palestine-Israel region this week to discuss the issue of the Palestinian FA’s complaints against Israel in … Continue reading
