Unfortunately this document does not contain any commitment to passing the Occupied Territories Bill that would ban trade with Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. However it is important to note that, as Fianna Gael Chairman Martin Hayden said, “this is not a program for government, but starting point to facilitate negotiations with smaller parties and independents in order to develop a government.” Furthermore, Fianna Fáil TDs have indicated to us that they would like to see the Occupied Territories Bill form … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has welcomed the support from over 140 general election candidates for a series of election pledges supporting justice for the Palestinian people. At least 147 candidates, from most parties and many independents, have signed the three pledges, which were also endorsed collectively by Sinn Féin, The Green Party, Solidarity, People Before Profit, Rise, and The Workers’ Party. At least one candidate in every constituency endorsed the pledges, while in some constituencies some half to three quarters of candidates declared their support. The pledges call on candidates to Support a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is asking our members and supporters to make justice for the Palestinian people an issue in the 2020 Irish General Election. The handout contains questions and important information related to • Support for a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal colonial settlements in Palestine • Support for an end … Continue reading →

Last month we wrote to European Election candidates in all four Irish constituencies and asked them a series of four short questions about their positions on the Palestine-Israel issue, informing them that we would be publishing the answers so that those who care about Palestinian rights can be better informed when voting on polling day. Below we we are publishing all those answers we have received so far. Please note that Some of the candidates did not answer the questions directly and instead simply submitted their own wider positions. Not all candidates responded, but at least one representative from most … Continue reading →
