Answering the Palestinian call for a global day of action, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign and other groups will be holding a series of actions around Ireland on the 25th and 26th October 2019. We are calling for a boycott of Puma due to their continued sponsorship of the Football Association of Apartheid Israel. The Israeli FA allows teams based in Israel’s colonial settlements in occupied Palestine to be members, despite the illegality of these settlements. Puma claims to care about human rights, but its actions prove that it doesn’t. We need to send a message to Puma that their enabling … Continue reading

‘Jewish community in Derry & Strabane absolutely delighted our Council supports BDS’

We carry below a statement we were sent via our colleagues in Jewish Voice for a Just Peace – Ireland, regarding comments made my Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster and Gary Middleton MLA concerning the historic decision by Derry City and Strabane District Council to support the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement aimed at pressuring Israel into ending its occupation of Palestine and fulfilling its obligations under international law. We agree with JVJPI that seeking to essentialise Jewish thought, experience and action into something that is inherently not just associated with, but homogeneously supportive of, the state … Continue reading

Gaza-based Nader al Massri and Sami Nateel had been due to arrive in Derry on Friday but their plans have now been halted due to the visa refusal which the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (I.P.S.C.) has branded “inexplicable”. “We are hugely disappointed and angered at this decision. There was a large group of Palestinians who came to the Derry marathon last year and it was a massive success so we find it inexplicable that the immigration service … Continue reading
