On eve of AXA’s annual general meeting (AGM), United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Michael Lynk, called on the French insurance giant to fully divest from Israeli banks. The warning came as protests took place in Dublin and other European cities to demand AXA divests from Israeli banks that fuel apartheid. AXA currently invests US$6 million in four Israeli banks which finance the illegal Israeli settlements on confiscated land in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT), including East Jerusalem. The event was established in protest at the increasing corporatisation of the Dublin Pride parade, and the associated pinkwashing of deeply problematic companies and institutions. IPSC Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi delivered a speech at the rally about the reasons the IPSC was supporting the event, and about Israel’s cynical use of pinkwashing to mask it’s oppression of the Palestinian people. Below is a video and the text of that speech. In solidarity with our friends in Queer Action Ireland, who have … Continue reading →

Against this background of widespread colonial violence against Palestinians, condemned by human rights groups like Amnesty International, there have been … Continue reading →
