Huge BDS victory as CRH pulls out of toxic Israeli assets, ends complicity with Israeli crimes

A report released today by Ireland’s largest multinational CRH confirmed the global cement giant has divested from its 25% stake in the Israeli cement market. The company has been a focus of a sustained campaign calling for such a divestment from the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) and other groups for over a decade, due to role its Israeli subsidiary Nesher Cement plays in supplying materials for the building of Israel’s illegal separation wall, checkpoints and settlements. In the report CRH stated that it had “completed 13 divestments in 2015, the largest of which was the disposal of CRH’s 25% equity … Continue reading

Taoiseach says shocking Israeli government statements not aimed at bringing about peace: Campaigners urge sanctions on Israel

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) today welcomed An Taoiseach [Irish Prime Minister] Enda Kenny’s statement that shocking anti-Palestinian statements by members of the new Israeli cabinet are “not part of a philosophy of a democratic government working to bring about peace”. However, the IPSC remains disappointed; despite this recognition of the true character of the Netanyahu administration, the Irish government continues to refuse to implement any meaningful sanctions on Israel thereby allowing it to continue acting with impunity towards Palestinians. By not implementing sanctions our government is tacitly permitting Israel’s commission of human rights and international law violations. Responding to … Continue reading

URGENT ACTION ALERT: Tell the UN not to reward Israel for Gaza massacre

Take action: Tell the UN: Don’t reward Israel for Gaza massacre – it only takes one minute! International donors have pledged $5.4 billion to rebuild Gaza after Israel’s 50-day assault last summer that killed 2,254 Palestinians, including 538 children, and caused widespread destruction. But studies show that at least 45% of the aid pledged by international donors will go to the Israeli economy. The companies that are set to rake in profits providing materials for the reconstruction of Gaza are corporate criminals. Companies like Nesher (1/4 owned by Irish cement multinational CRH) and ReadyMix pillage Palestinian natural resources and participate … Continue reading

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is asking our supporters to wrote to the Irish multinational CRH to ask it to divest from it’s one-quarter ownership of Mashav, and Israeli holding company that owns Nesher cement, Israel’s sole cement manufacturer. Nesher cement is used in the construction of Israel’s illegal apartheid wall, checkpoints and settlements. Recent media reports suggest that CRH is reviewing its investment in Mashav, along with several other investments. We urge you to write the new CEO, Mr. Albert Manifold, and ask that CRH finally acts in an ethical manner and drops its Israeli interest which is involved in … Continue reading

IPSC welcomes University of California Irvine student government resolution on divestment from Israel

We would like to express our wholehearted support for the University of California Irvine student government’s stand for human rights and justice, in the form of its November 2012 divestment resolution. This resolution is a firm, clear sighted statement based on a commitment to justice and an understanding of the importance of ensuring that international companies comply with human rights and international law. The companies mentioned in the resolution all have an ongoing record of complicity in illegal Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories. They are all engaged in well-documented and flagrant breaches of basic human rights norms, and … Continue reading

The writing is on the Apartheid Wall for CRH

Graffiti artists in Palestine have made it clear to Irish cement multinational CRH what they think of the activities of their Israeli subsidiary Mashav. Mashav, in which CRH holds a 25% stake, own Nesher cement – Israel’s sole cement manufacturing company. Nesher cement is used in the construction of the Apartheid Wall, Israeli settlements and related infrastructure, all declared illegal by the International Court of Justice in its 2004 ruling. CRH is aiding and abetting, and literally concretising, Israel’s apartheid policies against the Palestinian people. For more about CRH’s involvement, please see this section of our website. On Saturday 7th … Continue reading

People walking into Wexford town’s iconic Bullring on Saturday 24th March 2012 found themselves face to face with sirens, soldiers manning a menacing checkpoint, and a scale model of Israel’s illegal West Bank wall. Luckily it was just part of a street theatre event organised by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) to highlight awareness of the day to day horrors being endured by the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation, and highlighting the role Irish cement multinational CRH plays in the building of Israel’s Apartheid Wall and illegal Jewish-only settlements in the West Bank. To sign the IPSC’s petition calling … Continue reading
