Child Prisoners
On 1st June, the same day that the Israeli military shot and killed 2-year-old Palestinian child Mohammed Tamimi, the respected human rights organisation Defence for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) published a new report entitled ‘Arbitrary by Default: Palestinian Children in the Israeli Detention System.’ Israel has the dubious distinction of being the only state in the world that systematically prosecutes hundreds of children in military courts each year. Palestinian children in the West Bank, like adults, face arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment under an Israeli military detention system that denies them basic rights. Since 2016, Israel has held an average … Continue reading →

In the early hours of Thursday 29th July 2021, Israeli occupation forces raided the headquarters of Defence for Children International – Palestine, confiscating computers, laptops, hard-drives and confidential legal files related to child prisoners. The raid was conducted Israel’s notorious Border Police unit, which operates under the command of the Ministry of Public Security. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign sent the below letter to the Irish government, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between the Irish police force, An Garda Síochána, and the Ministry of Public Security through the EU-funded ROXANNE research programme. A similar letter was also sent to the Minister for … Continue reading →

Today, April 17 is Palestinian Prisoners Day, the day of international solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners in Apartheid Israel’s jails. This year, there are more than 5,000 political prisoners incarcerated by apartheid regime, including more than 180 children, over 40 women and 430 people interned without charge or trail. Not only do all of them face the very grave threat of the Covid-19 virus spreading in such enclosed spaces, they also face the problem of widespread medical negligence by Israeli prison authorities. You can watch and share our short video message of solidarity above or on any of the following … Continue reading →

There were tears and joy as, her spirit unbroken, young Palestinian hero Ahed Tamimi was this morning released from eight months in the Israeli occupation’s prisons, finally reunited with her family and her people. Her mother Nariman was released alongside her, where they were greeted rapturously by supporters. Ahed was jailed for the ‘crime’ of slapping an Israeli occupation solider that had invaded her village. An occupation soldier who shot a wounded Palestinian man dead on camera received a sentence of just 9 months. This is how the apartheid injustice system works – one law for the colonisers, another for … Continue reading →

Although long suspected, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) yesterday learned via news reports that the organisation is one of 20 human rights advocacy groups on an official Israeli state blacklist, meaning that its members are banned from entering Israel, and thus, from entering Israeli-occupied Palestine. The Israeli apartheid regime fears solidarity so much it seeks to stop us from visiting our friends and colleagues in the Palestine-Israel region. Although appalling, saddening and manifestly anti-democratic, the IPSC views its appearance on this list as a badge of honour and a vindication of our work in solidarity with the people of Palestine … Continue reading →
