Earlier today, SumOfUs published the report “AXA: Financing War Crimes” which shows that the French insurance giant AXA invests over $91 million in Israel’s largest private security and military company, Elbit Systems, and Israel’s five main banks, which operate in and serve Israel’s illegal settlements. Elbit Systems, Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Mizrahi Tefahot, First International Bank of Israel and Israel Discount Bank all support Israel’s illegal settlements and associated infrastructure, in addition to the unlawful use of armed force against Palestinians. This makes AXA complicit in serious violations of international law. It also violates AXA’s own responsible investment policies. Send … Continue reading →

Every year the 29th November is celebrated as UN International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This year, in the week leading up to it, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has organised a series of events focusing on traditional Palestinian culture and it’s role in resisting apartheid, occupation, and exile. We hope you will be able to make it along to some of all of these special events: At lunchtime on Tuesday 26th November we are hosting an exhibition and workshop focusing on the art of Palestinian embroidery, featuring an expert embroider from Gaza. It will take place in The … Continue reading →

On Saturday 29th June 2019 the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) participated in the first ‘Pride Alternative’ event in Dublin. The event was established in protest at the increasing corporatisation of the Dublin Pride parade, and the associated pinkwashing of deeply problematic companies and institutions. IPSC Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi delivered a speech at the rally about the reasons the IPSC was supporting the event, and about Israel’s cynical use of pinkwashing to mask it’s oppression of the Palestinian people. Below is a video and the text of that speech. In solidarity with our friends in Queer Action Ireland, who have … Continue reading →

Fatin Al Tamimi, Chairperson of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) spoke at the #StopTrump demonstration in Dublin on 6th June 2019. You can watch the video here, or read the full text below. A contingent of people from the IPSC also took part in the protest march, and there are some pictures of the demo following the speech. Speech by Fatin Al Tamimi, 6th June 2019: In my life I wear many hats – I am a woman, an immigrant, an exile, an Arab, a Muslim, an anti-war and anti-apartheid activist, a mother, and I am a Palestinian. These are some … Continue reading →

Between 13th and 20th July branches of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign around the country will be taking part in the Boycott HP global week of action, calling on HP to end its profiteering from Apartheid Israel’s colonial occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people. We will be on the streets asking people to boycott Hewlett Packard (HP) and highlighting their complicity and facilitation of Israel’s crimes against the people of Palestine. We will also collect signatures on our ‘Boycott HP Pledge’. We’ll be hitting the streets in the following locations: Saturday 13th July Dublin: 12.30pm – 4pm, Henry St, Dublin … Continue reading →

It’s that time of year again, when politicians come knocking on doors looking for your vote. This May there will be European and Local elections in Ireland north and south. While domestic issues are, as always, likely to dominate the discussions, we believe it is vitally important that the issue of Palestine is kept firmly in the minds and mouths of all our politicians. The very essence of the Palestine solidarity movement is to ‘think globally, act locally’ – and we have seen impressive local support for Palestinian freedom by many local councils over the past decade. We need to … Continue reading →

Last month we wrote to European Election candidates in all four Irish constituencies and asked them a series of four short questions about their positions on the Palestine-Israel issue, informing them that we would be publishing the answers so that those who care about Palestinian rights can be better informed when voting on polling day. Below we we are publishing all those answers we have received so far. Please note that Some of the candidates did not answer the questions directly and instead simply submitted their own wider positions. Not all candidates responded, but at least one representative from most … Continue reading →

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR WORK – BECOME A CONTRIBUTOR TODAY The Trump-Netanyahu Axis of Racism is an ongoing disaster for the Palestinian people. The Trump administration has enacted a series of harsh policies, including recognising occupied Jerusalem as the capital of apartheid Israel, recognising the illegal annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights, threatening the International Criminal Court, and cutting all funding to UNRWA, the agency responsible for providing education and healthcare to millions of Palestinian refugees. Meanwhile, attempts continue to brutally suppress Palestinian resistance, with almost 200 unarmed protesters deliberately shot dead and thousands wounded in Gaza, and thousands of prisoners … Continue reading →

Airbnb just did the worst thing. After announcing they’d ban vacation rentals in illegal Israeli settlements from their platform, Airbnb did a complete reversal and will continue to allow rental suites on the ruins of Palestinian lives and land. This is Palestinian land that Palestinians are not allowed to enter, but Airbnb has decided they’re ok helping everyone else going to this stolen land for their vacations. This is a despicable decision, and we’re going to show them what we think of this with a Deactivate Airbnb day of action. We’ll take action on May 15th, Nakba Day – a day … Continue reading →

Answering the Palestinian call for a global day of action, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign and other groups will be holding a series of actions around Ireland on the 25th and 26th October 2019. We are calling for a boycott of Puma due to their continued sponsorship of the Football Association of Apartheid Israel. The Israeli FA allows teams based in Israel’s colonial settlements in occupied Palestine to be members, despite the illegality of these settlements. Puma claims to care about human rights, but its actions prove that it doesn’t. We need to send a message to Puma that their enabling … Continue reading →

A petition signed by over 7,000 people which asks Ireland’s Eurovision entrant Sarah McTernan to pull out of the song contest in Apartheid Israel this week has been delivered to the singer ahead of her scheduled appearance in this Thursday’s semi-final. The signatures were collected online and on the streets over the past two months. The delivery comes a day after Galway City Council passed a motion supporting calls for a boycott of the controversial contest, noting that “it will be openly used for political and militaristic propaganda purposes”. Galway is the third local council to make such a call, … Continue reading →

In an Open Letter published in today’s Irish Times, 32 veterans of the Irish movement against South African apartheid have called for an Irish boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest due to be held in Israel next week, comparing Israel to Apartheid-era South Africa. It is the latest move in the Irish Campaign to Boycott Eurovision 2019 in Apartheid Israel. The signatories to the letter include renowned Dunnes Stores anti-apartheid strikers Mary Manning and Karen Gearon, former Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement (IAAM) Gary Kilgallen, Rafique Mottiar and Louise Asmal respectively. Ireland must play no part in the art-washing of Israeli oppression, and we are asking the Irish entrant Sarah McTernan not to perform at Eurovision 2019 in Apartheid Israel. Palestinian artists, journalists and civil society groups have asked international artists of conscience to boycott the 2019 Eurovision due to be staged in Israel, due to Israel’s “regime of military occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid” which is “shamelessly using Eurovision as part of its official ‘Brand Israel’ strategy”. In solidarity with this call from the oppressed Palestinian people we ask you to sign this petition. CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION ASKING … Continue reading →

Today, 16th April 2019, an open letter from LGBTQ+ campaigners calling for Irish singer Sarah McTernan to boycott the Eurovision in Apartheid Israel was published by Gay Community News, Ireland’s leading LGBTQ+ magazine and news website. Signatories to the letter include Ailbhe Smith, Senators David Norris and Fintan Warfield, GLEN founders Cathal Kerrigan and Kieran Rose, poet Sarah Clancy and academics Mary McAuliffe, Ursula Barry and Tina O’Toole. The authors inform Sarah McTernan of Israel’s use of ‘pinkwashing,’ which they describe as a “PR tactic used by Israel which cynically exploits support for LGBTQIA people to whitewash its oppression of … Continue reading →
