Gaza: 4 simple things you can do to help end the slaughter

1. BOYCOTT ISRAELI GOODS From blood diamonds to dill, Israeli products are often available in Irish retail outlets. Revenues from these products help fund Israel’s apartheid regime and its war machine. Even when this round of slaughter is over, Israel will continue to oppress and kill Palestinians. For a list of Israeli products you can boycott and a sample letter to send to supermarkets see www.ipsc.ie/big You should also sign this online petition from Mandate, the trade union that represents retail workers, calling on all Irish retailers to stop selling Israeli produce! – www.tinyurl.com/mandatebig 2. Take Action: Write to politicians and demand Irish government action

Dear supporters, following on from the Seanad recall debate on Gaza on Thursday 31st July, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan made it clear that Ireland would not support any meaningful concrete action aimed at ending either the Israeli onslaught on Gaza or Israeli impunity in general. We find this very disappointing, as Ireland has supported sanctions on other countries in the past. We are asking those of you who find this situation unacceptable – especially after the Irish abstention in the vote at the UN Human Rights Council – to write to the following people. Below we provide … Continue reading

Three journalists killed in Gaza as Israel intensifies bombardment after ceasefire failure

Israel intensified its bombardment of the Gaza Strip last night, leaving the current Palestinian death toll at 136, including 92 civilians. The intensification follows the scuppering of a proposed ceasefire, which was supposed to come into effect at midnight on Wednesday. Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the breakdown was due to Israeli demands. Reports from Gaza confirm that 3 journalists have been killed in 2 separate airstrikes yesterday.  The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) condemned the killings and said that it believes that such crimes are aimed at silencing journalists. The latest figures from the Irish-Aid funded PCHR confirm that … Continue reading

Report: Third National BDS Conference in Paletsine

On 17 December 2011, Palestinians gathered in the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank for the Third National Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions  (BDS) Conference. The event took place against the backdrop of continuous Israeli violations of Palestinian rights, and a growing resistance against injustice worldwide as demonstrated by the Arab revolutions and the occupy movements.  Just minutes away from the conference venue, 500 Jewish settlers live under escort of the Israeli military in a colonial enclave in the middle of old Hebron, terrorizing local Palestinian residents on a daily basis, with the stated intent of driving them from … Continue reading

Don´t Collaborate with Apartheid – a call from Palestinian civil society on European universities, academics, students and people of conscience

Press Release, Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) 20th October 2011 The State of Israel practises a system of occupation, colonialism and apartheid over the Palestinian people, but it does not do so unaided. Israeli military companies are the main enablers of Israel´s persistent and grave violations of international law. They provide the weaponry and technology that allow Israel to commit atrocities and daily violations of human rights, and they directly participate in the construction of Israel´s Apartheid Wall, declared illegal by the International Court of Justice on 9 July 2004.[1] Israeli universities and research institutes are deeply involved in military … Continue reading

IPSC statement on the Palestinian “UN statehood initiative”

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign fully supports the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination as guaranteed by UN General Assembly Resolution 3236. This right is the foremost and most fundamental human right of the Palestinian national liberation movement, and is an inalienable right of all Palestinians – those in the Occupied Territories, Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinian refugees and others in the Diaspora. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, as an organisation in solidarity with the Palestinian people, does not see our role as intervening in internal Palestinian discussions on statehood, or advocating solutions based on ‘one’ or ‘two’ states. It … Continue reading
