IPSC welcomes Sally Rooney’s decision to support the cultural boycott of Apartheid Israel

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) commends acclaimed author Sally Rooney for her principled stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people by refusing a deal with Israeli publishing house, Modan, which is complicit in that state’s crimes against the Palestinian people. We welcome Ms. Rooney’s position and her moral clarity in respecting the Palestinian BDS call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel until such time as it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights, ending its oppression of the Palestinian people. We are proud to count Sally Rooney among the now 1,342 artists who have signed … Continue reading

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) welcomes the publication of a new report by the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence entitled “Demolitions and Displacements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.” The 112-page report, the product of several months of investigation by the Committee, is clear in its critique and condemnation of the illegal nature of Israel’s home demolitions, population displacements and settlement construction. The report also makes a list of recommendations (pp.47-49), most of which are broadly supported by the IPSC, in particular the calls for Ireland to: • Take steps towards realising its responsibility to not render aid or … Continue reading

Watch: International Day of Solidarity With the Palestinian People 2020

Today, 29th November, is International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Also, on this day 19 years ago, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign was formed to stand in solidarity with Palestinian people. Our team of volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout these years for Palestinian rights. To mark this occasion we have produced … Continue reading

UAE-Israel Agreement: An abandonment of Palestinian rights that must be rejected

Last week’s announcement of the normalisation of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is no cause for celebration. While it should come as little surprise given that friendly relations between the two were an open secret for decades, the formalisation of the agreement is nevertheless paid for in the negation of Palestinian fundamental rights – not least the right to self-determination. Instead of centring Palestinian rights as the pivot upon which to build a just and sustainable peace, this agreement actually does the opposite; it gives important diplomatic cover to Israel’s ongoing violations of these rights. This is … Continue reading
