IPSC condemns Israel, and international complicity, in death of Palestinian hunger-striker Khader Adnan

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) condemns the Apartheid State of Israel for overseeing the death by hunger strike of Palestinian political prisoner Khader Adnan. Adnan, 45, died yesterday after an 87-day hunger strike in protest at his unlawful detention without charge or trial. We in the IPSC echo the view of the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council that this was a “calculated and cold-blooded slow-killing.” Adnan’s death was a form of ‘murder by negligence’, and it is no surprise it has come at a time when Israel is moving to implement a new law that will allow executions of Palestinian … Continue reading

Watch our Palestinian Prisoners’ Day message and take action for political prisoners

Today, April 17 is Palestinian Prisoners Day, the day of international solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners in Apartheid Israel’s jails. This year, there are more than 5,000 political prisoners incarcerated by apartheid regime, including more than 180 children, over 40 women and 430 people interned without charge or trail. Not only do all of them face the very grave threat of the Covid-19 virus spreading in such enclosed spaces, they also face the problem of widespread medical negligence by Israeli prison authorities. WATCH: National Demonstration for Freedom & Justice in Palestine

On Saturday 10th June around 1,500 people from all over Ireland (and further afield) marched in a National Demonstration to mark the 50th anniversary of Israel’s occupation and illegal colonisation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) organised the event to convey a simple message, that  ‘100 years of injustice & 50 years of occupation is enough! Palestinian Freedom & Dignity Hunger Strike – Updated list of solidarity actions in Ireland

On Monday 17th April – Palestinian Prisoners’ Day – around 1,500 Palestinian political prisoners in Apartheid Israel’s jails began what they call the Freedom & Dignity Hunger Strike. The strike is calling for an end to the state of Israel’s practice of prisoner abuse, solitary confinement, torture, medical negligence and denial of rights guaranteed under international law—including the right to a fair trial and family visits. Infographic: Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails (April 2014)

According to Addameer, the Palestinian prisoner support and human rights association, as of 1st February 2015 (the latest date for which figures are available) there were 6,000 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails. Of these, 454 were held under Administrative Detention (indefinitely renewable internment without charge or trial), 163 were minors, and 25 were female. Dublin City Council motion calls for end to attacks on Gaza and Administrative Detention, and for arms embargo & trade sanctions on Israel

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) today welcomed Dublin City Council’s unanimous passing of a motion calling for an end to both the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza in which at least 184 Palestinian have been killed and the Israeli-imposed illegal siege of the coastal strip, as well as calling upon the Irish government to push for an arms embargo and trade sanctions on Israel.  The motion also condemned the use of Administrative Detention, a form of internment without trial, by the Israeli state.
