Action on Annexation: Contact the Irish government to demand sanctions on Apartheid Israel

With the full backing of the US, and a virtual silence of the EU, from 1st of July, Apartheid Israel says it will begin the process of annexing some 30% of the Palestinian land it occupies, in total violation of international law. As this illegal annexation of large parts of Palestine looms, we’re asking people to mobilize to put pressure on politicians for real and meaningful action, not hollow platitudes, in defence of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and freedom! Sign & Share the Avaaz petition First, we ask you to please sign and share this very … Continue reading

WATCH: Nakba Day Message from the IPSC

Today is Nakba Day, which marks the 72nd anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (‘Catastrophe’) which saw the expulsion of over 750,000 people, two-thirds of the indigenous people of Palestine, forcibly uprooted from their homeland in a brutal act of ethnic cleansing that facilitated the foundation of the Apartheid State of Israel. Today, Palestinian refugees are trapped in an ongoing Nakba, many of them risking their lives crossing the Mediterranean to flee conditions in Syria, facing endemic poverty and discrimination in Lebanon, discriminated against as unrecognised internally displaced placed people inside the Apartheid State of Israel, subject to attacks by Israeli … Continue reading

URGENT: As leaders meet TODAY to discuss OTB – Tell Leo Varadkar & Fine Gael it’s time to support the Bill!

The headline in today’s Irish Independent reads ‘Leaders meet with talks deadlocked over carbon taxes, housing and Israel’. The article goes on to say that a “crunch summit” TODAY “is expected to focus on proposals to ban the importation of Israeli goods produced in occupied Palestinian territories, as this issue has been passed on to the leaders after the negotiators could not reach agreement.” Your lobbying is working, together we have managed to push the Occupied Territories Bill to forefront of the government formation agenda! We are thrilled to hear that both Fianna Fáil and the Green Party have been … Continue reading

Watch our Palestinian Prisoners’ Day message and take action for political prisoners

Today, April 17 is Palestinian Prisoners Day, the day of international solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners in Apartheid Israel’s jails. This year, there are more than 5,000 political prisoners incarcerated by apartheid regime, including more than 180 children, over 40 women and 430 people interned without charge or trail. Not only do all of them face the very grave threat of the Covid-19 virus spreading in such enclosed spaces, they also face the problem of widespread medical negligence by Israeli prison authorities. You can watch and share our short video message of solidarity above or on any of the following … Continue reading

Nakba Week: Diana Buttu Live & Post Your #KeyToJustice Selfies!

It’s Nakba Week, when Palestinians and their supporters around the world commemorate Al Nakba (The Catastrophe) – the 1947-49 ethnic cleansing and dispossession of over 750,000 indigenous Palestinians by Zionist paramilitaries to facilitate the creation of the Apartheid State of Israel. As we cannot bring our message of remembrance, hope and solidarity to the streets this year, we are organising several online activities that supporters can get involved with this week. 1. Livestream Public Meeting with Diana Buttu Firstly, this WEDNESDAY 13th MAY at 6.30pm we are honoured to host an online public meeting with Palestinian legal expert and political … Continue reading

Tell Fianna Fáil and the Greens not to ditch the Occupied Territories Bill!

Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party are deep in negotiations to form the next government. They will soon begin discussing matters of foreign affairs – and we need to make sure that Fianna Fáil and the Greens know they can’t just forget about their election commitments that they would support the passage of the Occupied Territories Bill into law. Indeed, we are very concerned that the Occupied Territories Bill will be discarded by the parties during government negotiations even though it is supported by the overwhelming majority of TDs and Senators. To ensure that this doesn’t happen it … Continue reading

Take Action: COVID-19 Emergency – Gaza Needs You!

Last March, with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation of the two million Palestinians trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip gave cause for grave concern. Now, sadly, the worst has begun to come to pass; at the time of writing Gaza has seen at least 400 active cases, most of them from community transmission, with 3 deaths. This means that the coronavirus is at large and a serious threat to Gazan society, not least the estimated 50,000 Nakba survivors who live there. This disaster comes in the context of the apartheid state of Israel tightening the blockade of … Continue reading

Take Action: FF-FG Program for Government must include Occupied Territories Bill commitment

It seems increasingly likely that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael will form a coalition government together very soon. We believe that it is important that even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the incredible strain and, sadly, increasing tragedy, that has been placed upon people in Ireland as a result, that we do not forget about our sisters and brothers in Palestine. We are asking our supporters to write to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin, Fianna Fail foreign affairs spokesperson Seán Haughey, and to your local Fianna … Continue reading

Take Action: Any Program for Government must include Occupied Territories Bill commitment

On April 15th Fianna Fail and Fine Gael published a ‘framework document’ for the formation of the next government. Unfortunately this document does not contain any commitment to passing the Occupied Territories Bill that would ban trade with Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. However it is important to note that, as Fianna Gael Chairman Martin Hayden said, “this is not a program for government, but starting point to facilitate negotiations with smaller parties and independents in order to develop a government.” Furthermore, Fianna Fáil TDs have indicated to us that they would like to see the Occupied Territories Bill form … Continue reading

Sign the petition: Stop Israeli killer drones from intensifying the EU’s border militarisation

These weeks are difficult times for all of us – and as we all need to protect our health, we also need to ensure that these are times of mutual care and not of complicity and corporate profit. It is now that our capacity to show solidarity is the most important. In this spirit, our partners in Stop the Wall and the European Coordination of Committees and Associations for Palestine (ECCP) have launched today Monday 30 – Palestinian Land Day and the anniversary of the Gaza initiated Great Return March – a petition to ask the EU #HealthcareNotWarfare: Stop using … Continue reading

WE’RE TAKING THE EU TO COURT – And we need your support to do it!

Earlier this year a coalition of European Palestine solidarity groups attempted to use the European Citizens’ Initiative mechanism as a means to voice out our call for action against all illegal settlements. This is a mechanism under which 1 million European citizens can compel a debate on an issue of concern. In this case we wanted to see a proper debate on the EU’s legal obligations towards non-recognition of, and non-assistance to, illegal settlements in occupied territories, including Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. However, the European Commission refused to even register our Initiative! It is clear, the Commission doesn’t want … Continue reading

Action Item: #ReclaimYourSpace – Stand against hate & support Palestinian freedom

Around the world the space for standing up for Palestinian freedom and rights is being shut down by those that oppose our shared values. They are using false claims of antisemitism to deny the Palestinian reality of living under Israel’s colonial system of Apartheid, occupation, oppression and dispossession. We are now reaching a critical point. Attacks are moving from smear campaigns that fuel fear and hate to political and legal initiatives that are restricting freedom of speech and the right to hold those committing injustice accountable. This is happening in the US, Germany, France, UK and elsewhere in Europe – as … Continue reading

Take Action: Tell AXA to Divest from Israeli Apartheid!

Earlier today, SumOfUs published the report “AXA: Financing War Crimes” which shows that the French insurance giant AXA invests over $91 million in Israel’s largest private security and military company, Elbit Systems, and Israel’s five main banks, which operate in and serve Israel’s illegal settlements. Elbit Systems, Bank Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Mizrahi Tefahot, First International Bank of Israel and Israel Discount Bank all support Israel’s illegal settlements and associated infrastructure, in addition to the unlawful use of armed force against Palestinians. This makes AXA complicit in serious violations of international law. It also violates AXA’s own responsible investment policies. Send … Continue reading

Make Palestine an EU & Local Election Issue!

It’s that time of year again, when politicians come knocking on doors looking for your vote. This May there will be European and Local elections in Ireland north and south. While domestic issues are, as always, likely to dominate the discussions, we believe it is vitally important that the issue of Palestine is kept firmly in the minds and mouths of all our politicians. The very essence of the Palestine solidarity movement is to ‘think globally, act locally’ – and we have seen impressive local support for Palestinian freedom by many local councils over the past decade. We need to … Continue reading

#DeactivateAirbnb: Join to campaign the deactivate Airbnb accounts on Nakba Day, 15th May

Airbnb just did the worst thing. After announcing they’d ban vacation rentals in illegal Israeli settlements from their platform, Airbnb did a complete reversal and will continue to allow rental suites on the ruins of Palestinian lives and land. This is Palestinian land that Palestinians are not allowed to enter, but Airbnb has decided they’re ok helping everyone else going to this stolen land for their vacations. This is a despicable decision, and we’re going to show them what we think of this with a Deactivate Airbnb day of action. We’ll take action on May 15th, Nakba Day – a day … Continue reading
