Update from Gaza Action Ireland (11:30 Sat 20 Oct): We’re now certain that Israeli commandos have taken over the Estelle and it is being towed to Ashdod. All reports at this stage originate with Israel, as we lost contact with the ship at 9.15am this morning. Therefore, we have no reliable information on the nature of the take-over or regarding injuries, if any. European Parliamentarians board Gaza bound ship as SV Estelle expected in Gaza by weekend

At noon on Tuesday October 16th, additional passengers joined the SV Estelle – Ship to Gaza, to join its mission to breach the illegal siege of Gaza. (Note: You can sign the petition in support of the ship here) Members of Parliament from Greece, Norway, Sweden and Spain embarked on Estelle at sea in international waters, in an action south of the Greek archipelago. Report of IPSC protest against Israeli parliamentary visit to Ireland

On the evening of Wednesday 18th January, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) held a protest against an official Israeli parliamentary visit to the Oireachtas. This visit of two Israeli Knesset [Parliament] members and their entourage was kept secret by the Irish state until the evening before the two MKs arrived. With less than 12 hours notice, the IPSC organised a protest of over 40 pro-Palestine activists outside the gates of the Dail to coincide with the MKs’ official meeting with the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Tanaiste, Eamon Gilmore TD. Dublin: On the evening of Friday 4th November 2011, the Irish Ship to Gaza campaign  organised an emergency demo at the Spire in solidarity with the #FreedomWaves activists kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli military. The demo called for an end to the siege of Gaza and release of the unlawfully detained international activists. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is delighted to congratulate Michael D. Higgins on his election as the ninth President of Ireland. President Higgins has an honourable and long-standing record as a supporter of Palestinian human and political rights. Fintan Lane and Zoë Lawlor are now in the air en route to Istanbul! They will have to spend the night there, then will get a connecting flight tomorrow. No details yet about arrival time Dublin. THURSDAY: Five of the kidnapped Irish participants in the #FreedomWaves to Gaza mission will return home on flight LH982 (from Frankfurt) at 11.40pm on Thursday 10th November.
