[Maynooth] Film Screening: Roadmap to Apartheid, with Palestinian campaigner Malaka Mohammed

Thursday, February 9 from 6 PM – 8 PM, NIRSA seminar room, 2nd Floor, Iontas Building, NUI Maynooth.
PLEASE JOIN & SHARE THE EVENT ON FACEBOOK, THANKS!
Malaka is a campaigner for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) from Gaza and a PhD student in the University of Exeter.
In this contemporary political climate it is of increasing importance that the student body is aware of the difficulties faced by those in Gaza, and the wider Palestine.
On the night, Malaka will discuss her experiences as a student coming from Gaza, and the importance of BDS – a peaceful civil society campagn that aims to exert economic and social presusre on Israel to conform to international law, which it habitually ignores.
There will also be a screening of the award-winning documentary ‘Roadmap to Apartheid’ on the night. Examining the apartheid analogy commonly used to describe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, this award-winning documentary is narrated by Alice Walker (author of The Color Purple) and directed by South African activist Ana Nogueira and Israeli journalist Eron Davidson.
