Sanctions
Occupied Palestine, 15 February 2013 – The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), a broad coalition of the largest Palestinian civil society organizations, trade unions and NGO networks, supports the outcomes of the UN Fact Finding Mission on Israeli Settlements[1] that calls for boycotts and sanctions as measures required to end the illegal Israeli settlement enterprise. The BNC calls upon states, members of the Human Rights Council, to adopt the report, and on all governments and business enterprises to implement its recommendations. The BNC also calls upon conscientious citizens and civic organizations worldwide to use this report as … Continue reading →

To all IPSC members and supporters, As 2012 draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support for Palestinian rights throughout the past year. In 2012 Palestinians have continued the struggle for their human and political rights, whether through prisoner hunger strikes, the civil resistance campaigns in West Bank villages or the campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions. Thanks to your help, we have continued to raise awareness and support the struggle for freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people. It has not been an easy year for Palestine. In December, Israel … Continue reading →

All opposition parties in the Dail have called on Tainiste and Minster for Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore, to take action to secure a ceasefire in the Israeli assault on Gaza which has now left 105 Palestinians dead, including 70 civilians, and over 800 injured since Israeli sabotaged an Egyptian brokered ceasefire last Wendesday. The latest figures from the Irish-Aid funded Palestinian Centre for Human Rights confirm that of the 105 Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces, 23 are children and 12 are women and that civilians make up two thirds of the casualties. Of the 805 injuries, 786 are civilians, … Continue reading →

Reports from Gaza confirm that 92 people have died in Israeli strikes on Gaza since Israel breached ceasefire brokered by Egypt on Wednesday 14th November. Over 750 others have been injured in the bombardment from air, land and sea. 3 Israelis have died as a result of shelling from Gaza since 14th November. In light of these figures the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign calls for fair and unbiased reporting of the situation. On the night of Saturday 17th November the Israeli military assault targeted two buildings in Gaza City that housed international and Palestinian media outlets including both local Arab and … Continue reading →

Israel is bombarding Gaza from air and sea. There is a rising death toll and fears that Israel is preparing to launch a ground invasion. The latest attack on Gaza, called ‘Operation Pillar of Cloud’ comes four years after the devastating ‘Operation Cast Lead’, in which Israel massacred over 1400 Palestinians. We can’t let it happen again! Here are five very simple things you can do to help stop the Israeli assault on Gaza. 1. Email your public representatives and ask them to demand the Irish Government take action to end to the Israeli attacks. (Takes 1 minute) 2. Email or … Continue reading →

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is extremely disappointed by today’s statement from An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore, on the situation in Gaza[1]. The Tánaiste’s statement accepts uncritically the official Israeli narrative of events leading up to the beginning of the Israeli attack. Several timeline analyses have shown that it was Israel that broke one lull in violence by killing a 13-year-old child playing football on 8th November, and again on Wednesday 14th violated an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire by extra-judicially assassinating a leading member of Hamas and bombing 20 areas in Gaza in an action it … Continue reading →

Israel is again attacking the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip with extreme and indiscriminate violence. We ask you to send the below letter (or one of your own composition), which calls on the Irish Government to immediately demand that Israel cease these attacks and comply with international law, to An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore. You can email the Tánaiste at eamon.gilmore@oir.ie or call (01) 4082000 and leave a message. It will only take two minutes! ========== Sample Letter Dear Minister, I am contacting you as I am very concerned about the recent Israeli … Continue reading →

On Friday 9th November, the AGM of the Dublin Colleges Branch of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) passed a number of motions recognising Israel as an Apartheid state and in full support of the international campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS). Three motions in support of Palestinian human rights and BDS were tabled at the 2012 AGM, and all were passed unanimously. These motions add to the many trade union and Trades Council motions supporting BDS that have been passed in Ireland over the past number of years by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU), IMPACT, SIPTU, … Continue reading →

On October 23rd the European Parliament adopted the EU-Israel ACAA trade agreement by 379 votes to 230, with 41 abstentions despite the escalation of Israel’s illegal settlement policies and the entrenchment of its occupation of Palestinian lands. The vote was prompted by last month’s decision of the International Trade committee which, by a single vote, decided to oppose a further suspension of the agreement. MEPs who voted in favor of the agreement send a dangerous signal to the Israeli government: continued settlement construction, denial of the basic rights of the Palestinian people, inhuman and degrading treatment of prisoners and the … Continue reading →
