Vigil in solidarity with Palestinian hunger striker Khader Adnan

On Monday 13th February 2012, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign held a four hour day-time vigil outside the Israel Embassy in Dublin in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoner and hunger striker Khader Adnan. This action took place on the 58th day of his hunger strike against his administrative detention (internment without trial) by, and physical abuse suffered at the hands of, the Israeli state. Khader was detained on 18th December 2012 and put in prison for four months (despite not being charged with anything). Report of London BDS action: No Valentine for Israeli blood diamonds

On Saturday 4 February 2012, members of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign joined London human rights campaigners in Hatton Garden, the centre of London’s jewellery trade, to raise awareness among shoppers and jewellers about the continuing sale of Israeli blood diamonds. Note: A similar action is taking place in Dublin this weekend on Saturday 11th February. See here for details. Report of IPSC protest against Israeli parliamentary visit to Ireland

On the evening of Wednesday 18th January, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) held a protest against an official Israeli parliamentary visit to the Oireachtas. This visit of two Israeli Knesset [Parliament] members and their entourage was kept secret by the Irish state until the evening before the two MKs arrived. With less than 12 hours notice, the IPSC organised a protest of over 40 pro-Palestine activists outside the gates of the Dail to coincide with the MKs’ official meeting with the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Tanaiste, Eamon Gilmore TD. IPSC action asks Ana Moura not to sing in Apartheid Israel

On the cold and dark evening of Thursday 19th January 2012, members and supporters of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) stood outside Dublin’s National Concert Hall to deliver a simple message to Portuguese Fado signer Ana Moura. 2011 Successes of the Cultural Boycott of Apartheid Israel

2011 was a year full of many successes in the campaign for the cultural boycott of Israel.  This summary will focus on the cultural boycott with emphasis on musical artists and groups. The fall of South African apartheid was preceded by many musical artists who joined to create a movement. That movement became known popularly as “I’m not gonna play Sun City.”  Israel has not yet seen its Sun City moment fully, but as you’ll see, significant rumblings are beginning. New Year’s Eve vigil commemorates 3rd anniversary of the attack on Gaza

To commemorate the third anniversary of the Israeli ‘Operation Cast Lead’ attack on Gaza, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) organised a vigil on New Year’s Eve on  the Ha’penny Bridge in Dublin. The Israeli massacre during Winter of 2008/2009 left over 1,400 people dead, thousands injured and destroyed the civilian infrastructure of the tiny coastal region. Gardai break up peaceful protest outside Israeli Embassy sponsored film festival

A protest outside the Israeli Embassy sponsored “Israeli Film Days” in Temple Bar turned acrimonious this evening when Gardai broke up a peaceful demonstration by pro-Palestinian activists outside the venue. Citing Section 21 of the Public Order Act, Gardai forcibly removed around sixty activists from the area outside the venue, Filmbase, on Curved Street in Temple Bar, while others were removed from inside the venue. CRH Divestment Action: ‘Stall with the wall’ on Grafton St

On Saturday 12th November 2011, Dublin’s central shopping district Grafton Street saw the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign stage a virtual Israeli checkpoint highlighting the brutality and humiliation faced by Palestinians every day as they attempt to go about their daily lives. The IPSC were exposing the role Irish cement multinational CRH plays in the building of the illegal apartheid wall, checkpoints and settlements. In just a few hours we collected over 300 signatures for our petition calling on CRH to divest from it’s Israeli subsidiary the Mashav Group which owns Nesher cement. Dublin: On the evening of Friday 4th November 2011, the Irish Ship to Gaza campaign  organised an emergency demo at the Spire in solidarity with the #FreedomWaves activists kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli military. The demo called for an end to the siege of Gaza and release of the unlawfully detained international activists. Tuesday 1st November saw the launch of Professor David Landy’s Jewish Identity and Palestinian Rights: Diaspora Opposition to Israel (Zed, 2011) at a standing room only event in Dublin’s New Theatre. The book is an outstanding, ground-breaking examination of the relatively recent phenomenon of organised international Jewish criticism of Israel.
