In a frankly shocking move, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) had its bank accounts closed last week by Bank of Ireland without any proper explanation other than we no longer met their “risk appetite”. It is a move which appears to be part of a campaign orchestrated by the Israeli government to silence organisations which support the global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign which aims to pressure Israel until it ends its occupation of Palestine and adheres fully to international law ensuring freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people. As the BDS movement has grown exponentially worldwide, marking … Continue reading

Listowel Writers’ Week refusal to accept Israeli state funding welcomed by artists and human rights campaigners
Today’s decision by Listowel Writers’ Week Festival to refuse funding from the Israeli Embassy in Ireland has been welcomed by artists, human rights campaigners and Palestine solidarity activists in Ireland, and is being hailed as victory for the growing Palestinian-led global Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) movement. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is asking our members and supporters to make Justice for Palestine an issue in the 2016 Irish General Election. To make it easier for people, we have produced a short handout with three important questions to ask canvassers on the doorsteps, and have initiated a campaign asking the candidates to take the #PalestinePledges in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom, justice and equality. The handout contains questions and important information related to a) the Irish arms trade with Israel, b) the EuroMed Agreement between the EU and Israel, and c) the call for a … Continue reading

Israeli army and police have brutally attacked West Bank Palestinian demonstrators, with over 1,300 people injured by live and rubber-coated bullets. Against this background of widespread colonial violence against Palestinians, condemned by human rights groups like Amnesty International, there have been … Continue reading
