Lord Mayor to open major Dublin two-day Palestinian Freedom Conference this weekend featuring Palestinian, Israeli & international speakers

Dublin’s Liberty Hall will play host to the ‘Palestinian Freedom Conference: Overcoming the Ongoing Nakba’ this coming Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May. The conference will feature human rights defenders, experts, academics and activists from Palestine, Israel, Ireland and elsewhere. Take Action in support of flying Palestinian flag on Dublin City Hall

On March 30th the ‘Protocol Committee’ of Dublin City Council voted unanimously to fly the Palestinian flag from Dublin’s City Hall between 15 May and early June 2017, in what Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi called “a heartening gesture of solidarity“. This historic decision was greeted with joy and appreciation by Palestinians in Ireland, in Palestine and in the diaspora. In Pictures: Nakba 68 Protest in Dublin

On Saturday 14th May 2016 the IPSC held a march and ‘Moving Gallery’ to commemorate the Palestinian Nakba. Gathering at St. Stephen’s Green a large crowd marched down Grafton Street, around College Green over O’Connell Bridge and ended near the Jim Larkin statue outside the GPO on O’Connell Street. Protestors carried large photographs from Al Nakba, Palestinian and black mourning flags, and a giant key symbolising the Palestinian right of return to their homeland denied them by the State of Israel for 68 years.
